It's nice to be able to generate media thumbnails without downloading an entire codec pack (Shark and K-Lite are the two I previously used) that I have no other use for. That said, this doesn't seem to work as well as the thumbnail generators built into those packs--it renders initial thumbnails a lot more slowly and it doesn't automatically create thumbnails for all videos in a media folder unless you view all of the shortcuts in that folder. Otherwise they appear to stay as generic VLC icons or however they appear on your computer. Hopefully Media Preview won't cause problems with Windows Explorer, which is the issue I've had with third party icon generators. But so far this at least seems to be worth a look. Price: Free
