`Hold hostage` software

This is the type of software I hate. You download it thinking it will do what you want but it turns out the "free" version is so basic you have to pay to get anything useful. When you pay for an upgrade you discover this software is particularly egregious as it keeps it's hand out for money through multiple steps in the "upgrade to use this feature" cycle. This "loss leader" software is truly parasitic. The lack of integrated help is just the icing on a very icky cake. Price: Free
