I print lots of technical, programming, medical, and automotive web pages or save them to pdf files with PDFill. I used to have to highlight frames or portions of web pages prior to selection printing/saving, as the formatting and wordwrap don't work right for the whole web page. I can't stand a bunch of ads and nav bars, either.
Even this doesn't always work with KB articles on the MS site- I always had to disable Active Scripting to get them to look right. Saving as an mht file doesn't work much of the time anymore, either.
I don't know where I found Printee, but I love it. All the banners, sidebars, etc can be easily removed prior to printing to a pdf file. It takes a little while to get some pages the way I want them, but it's worth it to me to have an easily readable document that I can keep as a permanent reference. (I may be an info pack rat, but I bet you are too, if you're reading this). Highly recommended.
