For a new user, unfamiliar with security threats I would recommend this. It audits and reports on glaring gaps in the defenses. What it does NOT do, and what I was hoping for, is it to run a barrage of simulated attacks in various threat categories, to test the robustness of existing security programs. So it didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, and took 3 attempts to get that report correct (eg reporting AV out of date when it had just been updated.)
It relies on a large downloadable database of known security applications as a benchmark; is neutral about the effectiveness of any application; therefore one could have the mankiest antivirus in the world, but if it was turned on and up to date, would perhaps report your setup as secure. I say "perhaps", because I don't have a manky antivirus, so didn't comprehensively test its' neutrality. For anyone who already knows what's needed for security, not recommended.
