MAX Tray Player MAX Tray Player

Updating my review from 2005 5 stars
It looks like the MAX Tray Player has been updated around 2011 and is currently free for download! BINGO! Love that it will play video and audio while living next to the system tray. I removed my snapfiles old review and rating. Updating to a full five star rating. This is my old review from 2005: "It would seem that some file formats will not play in tray player. Once I drag and drop a file it starts to play the file and then drops into stop mode. The same file is tried in WMP 9 and Zoom player and have not problems so I know it is not the file. This has happened with MP3, AVI and MPG files. I have tried four different PC's with same results (XP and WIN2k). I thought this was the best tray player around - but still bugs that need to be worked out. I emailed these findings to the developer with no response and with the release of 1.01b I see these bugs have not been fixed. Keep searching if you want an all-in-one tray player that will handle a diverse array of codecs, audio and video." Price: Free

AutoFTP PRO AutoFTP PRO

Used with dial up connection 2 stars
I have to stay this software is buggy when used with a dial up connection. Not sure about direct access feature. The software is very unclear about start-up when starting windows. Sometimes it would start on its own and others I would have to preform a manual start. The software would dial a connection and attempt a transfer. Sometime it would disconnect and other times it would lock and not be able to transfer without a restart. Much too buggy for my application. One other little bit - the program will run another program when a transfer is run. If a transfer is skipped it will still run the program. Would be nice to have the option to only execute if a transfer takes place Price: Free Trial ($50.00)

DupKiller DupKiller

Does a good job 4 stars
The first thing I loved is - NO INSTALL NEEDED. Why can't all software be as self contained. It is very fast compared to duplicate software I have used in the past. The interface needs a little work but the defaults work very well in most cases. Overall - great software for what it does. Price: Free

SyncBack Free SyncBack Free

Better than most paid packages 5 stars
I have tested and purchase several different packages for backup and sync of files and folders. This has all the features and then some. I like the fact that it starts in a quick mode for set up and you are done in a couple of minutes. There is also an expert button for configuration obsessive users such as myself. No software is perfect but I cant tell enough people about this great package. I have not tried the Pro version yet but that is around the corner. Price: Free
