Face it, the web is a Microsoft dominated part of computer technology, IE is more compatible and stable, may not be safer though, thats why I recommend Maxthon, uses the IE Engine, but doesn't contain all the IE flaws, so you have a safe, compatible, useful and stable browser that has many more features , the same ability to download plugins, and you don't have to import your bookmarks and other things. So in short, Maxthon > Firefox; however, I have heard good things about opera, so I would recommend that above Firefox as well.
Maxthon (and maybe opera) > (certain other browsers including avant and slimbrowser) Firefox > (some other certain browsers that are even less popular like Mozilla) > IE > Netscape (why would someone use Netscape anyways?)
