A couple of bad points, but it's freeware! 4 stars by samsinfection Nov 17, 2006
Yes it's slightly bloated and leaves a fairly big footprint (for 7 years or older PCs that is). But I think it's great for a free IM, just the LAUNCHcast plugin alone is worth the DL to me, it works great. Just make sure to do a custom install and stop it from installing all of the crap it tries to piggyback with it. show Review details
Definitely a resource hog. 4 stars by alnjk01 Jun 08, 2006 (Read all my 124 reviews)
Rather large footprint, bloated and as I said not easy on the system resources. It has an octopus like layout whereas its features expand everywhere! All that being said it has more features then anyone could possibly want. All the features seem very well done and the program itself is stable. Additionally it does have very good to excellent voice call quality. In conclusion it's amazing how Yahoo was able to put everything together and still keep performance and stability! show Review details
A new standard in "chat" 5 stars by dlbean1 Apr 09, 2006 (Read all my 4 reviews)
Yes, I will agree with previous post, that system resources may be taxed on older machines. Given that, if you want to browse, chat, and listen to your "My Station" at Launchcast-this is one sweet program. You can choose not to install some of the features (especially if you are not certain of your machine or connection capabilities). Recommend System Memory of 256 MB to handle all of the "good stuff". show Review details
More bloat for your buck! 2 stars by Defconn1 Nov 12, 2005 (Read all my 3 reviews)
Download: 8MB, Install: 26MB, RAM: 31MB. Uninstalling quickly: Priceless. ... But seriously now, those are real stats. Yahoo all by itself takes 31MB of your resources just to run (idle!). Add in that it's only for one protocol, they keep adding "features" which I admit are cute, but really are not required. They have these audio emotes which are fun.. the first time. Then I just wanted to turn them off. They had other little games and stuff, nothing that had much to do with communication and instant messaging. Lots of clutter, lots of stuff that gets in your way. Companies gotta learn not to overwhelm their users with features before they are ready to use them. show Review details
