The app offers very basic functionality, not comparable with the standard version of WinZip. It is also limited to .ZIP and .ZIPX formats. In addition to opening and creating ZIP archives, the app also offers convenient sharing via Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, as well as an option to send large ZIP archives via the free ZipSend service. Although basic in features, WinZip is useful for those who are using the RT version of Windows 8, which cannot run standard Windows applications. As it turns out, even though the WinZip app is offered for "Free" in the Windows Store, they don't really mean "Free" as in "Free" but actually "Free" as in "Free Trial".
