WiFi network sniffer CommView for WiFi is a special edition of CommView designed for capturing and analyzing network packets on wireless 802.11 a/b/g networks. It gathers information from the wireless adapter and decodes the analyzed data. In addition, CommView lets you see the list of network connections and vital IP statistics and examine individual packets. Packets can be decrypted utilizing user-defined WEP keys and are decoded down to the lowest layer, with full analysis of the most widespread protocols. The captured packets can be saved to log files for future analysis. CommView provides several filter options, that allow to drop unnecessary packets and limit capture to essential information. Additional features include configurable alarms, pie chart statistics, import/export, packet search and full decoding of most protocols. CommView for WiFi requires you to replace your wireless network card driver - the monitoring computer will be in a passive mode and not be able to connect to the network, other than for packet monitoring. The program should be installed on a dedicated machine or secondary network card. Copyright Snapfiles.com

Good software but too expensive 3 stars by MaRKuSTHDJM Sep 22, 2006
This is very nice software but it is way too expensive. There is free software out there that does what this does. WinAirCrack can actually do more than this and is free, however, this one has a much better interface. Not only that, CommView for WiFi is missing a critical component ... WEP key retrieval. It turns out that to get that feature, it is SOLD as an ADDON. It is unbelievable that a company would charge $500 for a software that only serves one simple purpose, but then to not include such a critical component is even more disturbing. This software has another big disavdantage ... network interface hardware support is extremely limited. This software only supports a handful of the hundreds of network interface adapters available. If you plan on using this, expect to fork out an additional $60 for a new wifi network adapter. I would consider buying this if the price were in the neighborhood of $40 and it came packaged with the WEP retrieval addon. show Review details
