find and remove duplicate files CloneSpy can help you recover hard drive space by detecting and removing duplicate files. It can find files that have the exact same contents regardless of their name, date, time and location. Clonespy is also able to find files that are not identical, but have the same file name, allowing you to find and remove older versions of a file. Once the scan finished, you can decide what you want to do with the found duplicates, CloneSpy shows you the details for each file (and it`s proposed duplicate) and allows you to either keep, move or delete them. Is it just me? 1 stars by MrJaw69 Sep 09, 2014 (Read all my 34 reviews)
I expected the usual duplicate finder fare, but what I found is software that wanted me to go through and decide, duplicate file by duplicate file, which I wanted to keep. I admit that I didn't read the help file, because I used enough of these things that I figured I could navigate through the options relatively easily since I've used several other duplicate cleaners. Clonespy might be dynamite, but in my 15 minutes with the software I didn't find anything to indicate that. If you're not in the mood or don't have time for a learning curve, you probably want to look elsewhere. show Review details

I tried several clone file finders, most of them just crash when scanning a huge amount of files. Some are not so reliable. Clone Spy never let me down, and I use it often since many years. It is not the fastest program, but very reliable and it never crashed or hanged. If you have a lot of files and a lot of dupes grab this one. show Review details
Ahhh just what the doctor ordered 5 stars by gimpguy Sep 29, 2008 (Read all my 1159 reviews)
While I have gigs and gigs of freewarepayware mainly freeware, I have a bad habit of clustering the same thing over and over, perhaps in different folders, or zip with exe, whatever and I end up backing up dups of everything, therefore wasting space. This really put the kibosh on my behavior and was able to clean up all my duplicate setups, saving me gigs of space. Awesome! show Review details
