Double Commander Double Commander

Very good usability 5 stars
I've been looking for a good file manager and have tried quite a few: FreeCommander XE, MultiCommander, NexusFile5, xplorer2 as a successor or 2xExplorer. Nexus was awsome, but it does not have file search. FreeCommander and MultiCommander have all the features, but ... not intuitive. This one has the features and manages to stay easy to use. Best balance so far. Price: Free

File Hound File Hound

It works! 4 stars
I have tried several free file search programs and quality was not good. This one does not create an index and it searches in the specified directory, sub-directories. It finds what I am looking for and double click opens file with registered program (markdown in my case). I got what I was looking for. It has an option to add itself to right click menu on folders, which is a great usability enhancement. This offsets a minor usability issue that drop down list does not remember past search directories. Plain text preview works really well. Price: Free
