After about 2 hours on the phone with Time Warner "tech" support a different technician diagnosed the problem in a matter of moments and said it was beyond them to fix it - she suggested a WinSock fix. I found SnapFiles saved it to a working computer and then to a thumb drive. I then plugged the thumb drive into the "broken" laptop and in less than 10 seconds I was up and running with no action required on my part other than to restart which I don't even think was necessary. Things usually never go this easy so I would say this is one of the BEST FIXES I have ever used. A Great Fix.
