AVS Video Converter

Disappointing

Not all its cracked up to be, alas. Will NOT convert .mkv files out of the box, as previously mentioned. Also, if the file you are encoding already contains AC3 audio, the program will give an "AVS Video Tools has encountered an error..." message and close, unless you uncheck the AC3 option in "Advanced" before encoding. There are better options out there.

Extraordinary

I actually paid good money for a well known retail product, not all that long ago,which doesn't come within a mile of the functionality and design standards of this little beauty! Am personally amazed that this is out there as Freeware, and would urge anyone looking for a "Power" converter to give this one a solid workout before parting with their hard earned cash for any of the commercial offerings. It converts virtually any format with consummate ease,and the mobile phone component is worth the download on its own.Has a nice GUI, with a neat little 3D effect on opening..brilliant!!
