Great but I beg to differ 5 stars by gimpguy Sep 24, 2011 (Read all my 1072 reviews)
(First, this does not apply to user opinions here) While I do think this is an excellent secondary tool to use when trying to rid yourself from malware or rootkits and such, I do have an issue with all the hype this is getting (and I use this). 1. Many reviews on the internet state how this finds things others don't. It can, however many are false positives, it picks up what looks like a threat but may not be. It still picks up networking tools like SniffPass, it stated it was a trojan, it's not and to many basic users, they wouldn't know the difference. 2. I've put this up against others mentioned and it did no better (in real life scenarios)at ridding of infections than some popular others but no worse either. I found this to have it's own grade of removal just as others do. 3. Scan times can be horrendous. I've seen slow systems go for almost two days. I've noticed many others getting a cut down but in my opinion and from constant use, I think yes, it's a great tool in ADDITION to others but it has never shown me it's that much better than others either. There are many scenarios where CureIT won't find things and others do instead. Most often you get reviews from those who had one bad infection, I remove numerous infections a day, including rootkits. (I suggest a reinstall in most cases now after data recovery) but onward... No doubt a great tool to fight the bad guys but it's not perfect, still a must have though, fills in where others leave off and vice versa. showShow review details
Fantastic! 5 stars by woodworkerjunkie Jan 13, 2011
I went to a site that I should have known better and picked up a baaaad virus. Windows IE would not start and it messed with my settings on my audio card (couldn't play mp3's or listen to videos on the net). Tried running other programs, none of theme found anything that was causing my problems. I have been at this for almost a week trying to find a fix. I ran Dr.Web CureIt on my computer, it found 2 backdoors, first one it eradicated and the second one it ask me to do a restart (after scanning was complete) to remove it. After the restart, I opened up one of my mp3's and it played. Checked my settings for my volume control and everything was back to normal. So, I checked to see if Windows IE was working and sure enough it was back up and running! Thank You!, Thank You!, Thank You! goes out to the developer!! Great program I will never be without again. And, to think this was the free program, I will be purchasing the full version for sure! I don't normally do reviews, but, this program is definitely worth the time to write about. showShow review details
See the doctor for a cure! 5 stars by Andrew007 Nov 07, 2010 (Read all my 6 reviews)
Dr Web found a trojan on my laptop. The trojan caused operational issues with the firewall stability and AV and Malware programs. Scanning with other programs found nothing. I tried many as you can see. Dr Web did the job where the others failed. To be fair to Threatfire it knew something was a miss as it did advise `very high risk`, but it could not identify or kill it. Also the trojan was clever and stopped Threatfire starting when I rebooted many times. My firewall and AV Mal progs are now stable again. Many thanks to the developer. showShow review details
A great tool 5 stars by drfung Sep 23, 2010 (Read all my 17 reviews)
Well suited to perform either a 2nd opinion check of your system or for use against an active exploit. It's very adept at detecting and removing a considerable amount of the current crop of malware. showShow review details
Super! 5 stars by nobull2 Jul 22, 2010 (Read all my 25 reviews)
This found a virus that others missed as did Malwarebites. I think I will buy the full version now. showShow review details
Solved it at last 4 stars by Pussyfooter Jan 07, 2010
This was the 9th, yes 9th, package that I used to try to rid myself of an svchost cuckoo and a temp directory files generator. As it succeeded where all the rest of the usual suspects failed (AVG, not included in "the 9", stopping damage by the symptoms, which was important, but not spotting the source of course), I heartily endorse it as an essential companion package. The initial scan took a while to show any activity after I clicked on it, which made me think it had locked up, but other than that, "necessary and sufficient" interface. An early pop-up would be better served if it came later in the procedure, though. showShow review details
Even runs in win95 5 stars by jerry4dos Aug 28, 2009
Although not rated for it, this seems to run fine on my Win95-B computer. showShow review details
Don't download it until you need it 5 stars by Rustyboy Jan 19, 2009 (Read all my 33 reviews)
Great piece of software, no installation required. Because the database updates several times daily, you will always be asked to download the latest version (~11mb) unless you run it immediately. Keep the link and download it when you need to use it, that way you will have the latest database. showShow review details
Excellent program, cannot fault. 5 stars by PCUser404 Nov 03, 2008
This is a great program that is very simple to use, with no installation to worry about. I have used on several PC's with more than satisfactory results. Highly recommended and better than some programs you have to pay for. Would like to complement the manufacturers on this excellent piece of free software. showShow review details
Appears to be good 3 stars by Kenwick Sep 19, 2008
Appears to be a good anti-maleware program. No install needed. I ran it on the default settings. So I can't complain about it showing a few false positives (other anti maleware apps) I don't think it's really designed for novice users, but it may be handy for those who have some experience with anti-malware apps. showShow review details

Useful anti virus/malware tool 3 stars by Belatucadrus Feb 21, 2007 (Read all my 13 reviews)
On the face of it this is a useful tool to have if you need something portable to scan other systems with. It does have a nag screen and the update link isn't to anything incremental, it just downloads the latest version. Seems faster and more comprehensive than ClamWin portable, I've not been able to check its efficiency as a scanner or cleaner but the ICSA rating indicates it should be capable enough. Nice backup tool, hope they improve the update system though. showShow review details
