I had to do an image of a hard-drive that used a proprietary operating system...this worked like a charm.
I burned it to a CD, popped it in, and after making a few (very easy) selections, let it do its work.
Very straight-forward in the way it works. It asks you to choose the hard-drive you want to copy and then the one you want to copy to...can't get much easier than this!
Products from this developer are just fantastic
great customer support, great products.
I didn't see a need to actually install the program when all that it does is create a floppy disk, but nonetheless, thumbs up for effort off the starting blocks.
I couldn't use a floppy disk in the system, so I used Nero to create a bootable CD, enabling the advanced bootable floppy options and keeping the defaults. I copied the files from the floppy to the hard drive, and added those files from the hard drive to the CD contents. The CD I created from the files and boot sector on the floppy booted the system without a problem.
The program didn't offer the most intuitive interface I've ever used, but if you know the difference between your source and destination drives you should be ok.
A 200GB drive with Windows XP Pro copied to another 200GB drive in about 110 minutes. Displayed was Reading Error, Writing Error, Elapsed Time, Remaining Time, Progress, Current Sector, Total Sector and "Esc" to cancel.
I'm not exactly a newbie nor am i an expert but somewhere in between..the problem with this app is..it doesnt have any documentation on how to use, no steps on what to do..even if you did you to it's official site. and for people who doesnt even use floppies anymore...
This app is a lot like Symantec Ghost. The differences are, it's free, and very slooowwww.
It took this app over an hour to do what ghost did in less than five minutes.
The options at the floppy boot screen are a bit confusing, but not impossible.
Not for newbies I would say.
Tested on NTFS, if it works for other file systems like Linux, then it is a great tool. If it only works on windows file systems then it just a slow alternative to purchasing ghost.
