Very good 4 stars by gimpguy Oct 03, 2011 (Read all my 654 reviews)
The good features of this program are the ability to work with vector as well as standard. It doesn't seem to use a lot of memory for what it does and is very stable. There are plenty of sub options per filter, tool, or whatever else you use. It also has the ability to help you create calendars and buttons and more automatically (albeit not extremely fancy)but that's where the user learns to work with it. I did like the wrap text around a border and other warp text abilities it has. I can't say I like the interface, it's scattered and clunky, could be better organized. It would definitely take a user some time to learn to use unless you've worked with other graphic programs in the past, you can feel your way around much easier then. I couldn't in any way say PL is close to the power of PS. It may be a very nice graphic program but no,it's not in the PS bracket. Certain aspects are equal perhaps but only some. It's not as powerful as Gimp either but holds a major feature over it,vector ability. But you could use would use inkscape for such. I would say much less learning curve too but Gimp is free, this isn't. This does have a lot of capability, very cool features and is extremely powerful in it's own right. For those who can't afford PS or don't want to use Gimp, "this seems the in-between" for advanced users or novices learning, this is worth the price. Could definitely be a replacement for more pricey graphics editors depending on need, would say worth the money. showShow review details
It's close to free, fast and versatile 5 stars by henstt Jan 29, 2008
It's not the leading tool for professional photo editing. I'm a semi-prof. Standardisation doesn't bother me. About 5 years ago I tried several tools, including Photoshop 6.0. I found Photoline easier to use. It's fast too and does most of the things you can do with Photoshop for less then 10% of its price. There is one major release per year and several updates, mostly for bug fixes. User support is great. I got fast response every time. For less urgent questions or problems there is an adequate forum. showShow review details
Very powerful 5 stars by luc0815 Nov 16, 2007 (Read all my 6 reviews)
As the previous poster has written already, this small software package is in several aspects even more powerful than photoshop. It has more than 30 types of adjustment layers for losless editing, for example. 16-bit support throughout; LAB mode editing, color management. You can run it conveniently from an USB stick, too. This program is only let down by its often idiosyncratic terminology for its tools and options and by the fact, that the translation uses some Ginglish (GermanEnglish). The design is a bit drab. But the software is fast and very reliable. showShow review details
Best I`ve found 5 stars by mikej9 Jan 11, 2007 (Read all my 6 reviews)
Can't believe snapfiles didn't rate this a 5. I can't find any cons. Maybe the button icons could be better, and the website needs some professional styling. This performs BETTER than PaintShop and Photoshop, IMHO. Maybe not if you are a hard-core lifelong user of the 2 above. If you have used similar editors but didn't like something (price, bloated, slow) you should really give it a try. Not for beginners. showShow review details
