It might be hard to believe that IE windows opening up a few millimeters short of fully maximized could be such an annoyance.... BUT IT IS!!!
Having a bunch of IE windows open, each just a tad less than maximized, is like a gnat flying around the monitor, not bad enough to prevent getting things done, but aggravating like all get out.
I gotta assume that MS has SOME reason why something so obvious and seemingly easily fixable has not been fixed. For those who don't want to ponder the reasons, just get IE NWM.
With each release of Internet Explorer, I am amazed that the browser does not open fully maximized. It's ridiculous. Every other browser that I have used (a lot) opens and reopens fully so you aren't pushing the maximize button all day. I thought for sure (why?) when IE7 came out, that "feature" would be FINALLY fixed. Well, of course it was not. Thank goodness we have the IE New Window Maximizer. Whenever I reformat my hard drive or get a new computer, this little program is one of the first to be installed. I have used it for years and have never had a problem with it. I also love the hot key combination that closes all open windows at once. Great program!
In registry (regedit.exe) overwrite the key HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerDocument Windows - item Maximized for "yes". That's all!
This is a well little program that uses very little system resources. It simply maximizes your browser to avoid you always having to do so; which could be very annoying to view web pages. Nothing really more could be said about this since it performs this simple, yet great task.
IE used to drive me nuts. I tried everything to get new windows to open fully. Then a few years ago, I found this gem. It always works silently, uses almost no resources and has never crashed once. A+++
