P. O. S. Yeah, when this program doesn't work, open your door and ask the first bird that flies by for help. That's all the support you will ever get. This program is just not worthy of Snapfiles. Needs to be removed. showShow review details
Small but powerful 5 stars by wildgoosespeeder Jan 03, 2010 (Read all my 52 reviews)
For years I've been wanting to screen capture with no audio/video syncing errors or stuttering frames. This program is the best! For what ever reason YouTube members when they do screen capture they use HyperCam 2. Yes it is what I'm looking for when it comes to screen capture but there is that annoying "Unregistered HyperCam 2" text that it puts on every video you record. I'm not willing to pay. Too bad those YouTube members didn't know about CamStudio! One thing that doesn't need to be a feature is SWF support. That's just me. Another thing that needs improvement is fixing a region to capture video from. Drawing the capture frame once and entering numbers to tweak the frame size forces you to do guess work of where you want to capture and how much area you want to capture. Not exactly user friendly. This should be fixed by dragging/resizing something resembling a frame and you press the OK button when done tweaking the capture frame. showShow review details
One of the best 5 stars by gimpguy Sep 28, 2008 (Read all my 654 reviews)
Cam Studio is excellent. There are a couple that compare as well for .exe saving alternatives but for other methods, I feel Cam Studio tops the charts. It's easy to use, never had problems with it and great for tuts and such. I use this for beginners, when I fix their computer and they have no idea what an anit-v is or firewall, I explain then attach a vid for them to see, sort of an instruction video for them, they love it. Saves me time from sitting on the phone too! I would highly suggest this. showShow review details
Good if it suits you 3 stars by Henry8 Jul 25, 2008 (Read all my 35 reviews)
This is a good program if you want to record things happening on your desktop. I would imagine it's almost perfect for that. You can get your mouse moves and clicks captured, and the quality is quite fine. But if you want to record something that takes your complete screen, like a scene from a game, this doesn't work. I was looking for something, able to record my work on a mod for a game... total nill. Like most recording programs, this doesn't work that way. It can't get past the game, so to say. But otherwise, an excellent program. Somewhat modest in interface, but then, was it ever meant to be Ms. Universe? showShow review details
Awesome program - wow. 5 stars by kmruss Jun 24, 2008
Within 30-45 minutes of downloading this program, I was already encoding and converting my 'screenshot video' that I needed for a client. In order to keep file sizes low though, you must use and install either their (also) freely available codec from their website (click on the website link) - or I used 'AVIZlib' in mine, reduced the quality to 30, reduced fps to 15, enabled high compression. I produced a nearly 4 minute, 800x600, 15fps, no audio, 256 color AVI file to 10mb - and then compressed it down to 1.6mb with their included SWF producer. It even generates the webpage with the embedded player already linked to the file! What could be simpler? Note though, for Firefox compatibility, be sure to use either the 'fix' on their website (easy enough) or use the new 2.5 beta version (also on their website). Great program. You can pay $300 for similar software - but why? This works - go donate to them and then buy yourself something nice. showShow review details
