This is a good program if you want to record things happening on your desktop. I would imagine it's almost perfect for that. You can get your mouse moves and clicks captured, and the quality is quite fine. But if you want to record something that takes your complete screen, like a scene from a game, this doesn't work. I was looking for something, able to record my work on a mod for a game... total nill. Like most recording programs, this doesn't work that way. It can't get past the game, so to say. But otherwise, an excellent program. Somewhat modest in interface, but then, was it ever meant to be Ms. Universe?

Within 30-45 minutes of downloading this program, I was already encoding and converting my 'screenshot video' that I needed for a client. In order to keep file sizes low though, you must use and install either their (also) freely available codec from their website (click on the website link) - or I used 'AVIZlib' in mine, reduced the quality to 30, reduced fps to 15, enabled high compression. I produced a nearly 4 minute, 800x600, 15fps, no audio, 256 color AVI file to 10mb - and then compressed it down to 1.6mb with their included SWF producer. It even generates the webpage with the embedded player already linked to the file! What could be simpler? Note though, for Firefox compatibility, be sure to use either the 'fix' on their website (easy enough) or use the new 2.5 beta version (also on their website). Great program. You can pay $300 for similar software - but why? This works - go donate to them and then buy yourself something nice.
