This program worked great. Tip: Install this on a different drive than the one you are recovering data from to avoid overwriting the data you are trying to recover. I never knew how many temporary files were on my usb drive though. It took a little while to sift through all the files I could recover.

Bottom Line: Undelete Plus recovered the file I had accidentally deleted perfectly! While looking for a program to recover an accidentally deleted file, I noticed that most programs cost $30-40 USD so I was pleased to find freeware Undelete Plus. After scanning my 320GB Harddrive Undelete Plus returned a list of nearly 15,000 deleted files (mostly webpage icons and other unimportant system files), so it was important to use the built-in filters to limit the results so I could find the specific file I wanted to undelete. Windows had also changed the name of my deleted file but luckily I could work out which one it was by its size and filename extension. The message here is the more you know about your deleted file the better. The interface could be somewhat tidied up and made more user friendly, but overall it is a great program at a fantastic price! (For some reason, my properly laid-out, easy to read review was squeezed into this one big hard to read paragraph.)

I scanned the hardrive from my girlfriend's computer that had been sitting in a basement for 3 years, she had deleted some text file and pictures from it and, she wanted to see if she could retrieve them. I did a full drive scan and found everything she lost, plus some very old pictures she didnt know they even existed. I give this program my full recommendation

Awesome program, deleted all the files from my SD card, then found out the transfer had failed, tried a few other programs that just didn't work. This one did. Intuitive interface as well. Thanks.

This program just saved me big time. I accidentally deleted 60gb of files and I even inadvertently wrote 8gb to the disk afterwards. This program recovered every single file. The interface is it's main downside but who's complaining for a free program that works perfectly. Highly recommended.

Downloaded three other products, one which worked very well, but required 20 to finalize the recovery. Undelete plus took less than 10 minutes to recover my lost video clips with the .asf extension. This is excellent software. Well done.

I proved, yet again, why I shouldn't wake up at 7:30am on a Sunday and try to be productive. I made a stupid mistake and ended up deleting 5 folders with all of my summer vacation pictures. Due to their size, they skipped the recycle bin completely. I'm an amateur photographer, so my photos were my souvenirs for the trips, and these photos were also all of the pix I have of my girlfriend, who lives in Finland, and I. I downloaded this program and it found all of my deleted images and restored them in about an hour and a half. I recommend this to anyone who needs to recover files they've recently deleted. It's phenomenal, especially for a freeware program.

I downloaded about 5 different programs that were "freeware" (but were only really "free to try") and none of them fixed my problem. I gave my son a digicam for his birthday and he took some great pics but then formatted his SD card, erasing all 40+ images. NONE of the other programs found them, but this one did, in 10 seconds flat. I couldn't be happier with a program. I will recommend it and use it over and over again, and will also donate to its creators. Thanks for a WONDERFUL product!!!

Almost all other undelete utilities ask you for all or part of a file's name before they will begin a search for deleted files. Undelete-plus has filtering capability to do that also, but it is also capable of scanning, identifying and recovering all deleted files on all drives. This can be extremely helpful when you delete a file by accident but you are uncertain of the file's name. Undelete-plus also informs the user of the deleted file's condition - e.g. the likelihood that the file may be recovered in tact.

The program is simple to use but provides powerful tools. Still, take 3 minutes and scan the help file -- especially if you are unfamiliar with how files are stored on your disk. Select a drive and press Start Scan. If there are a lot of deleted files, it'll take a while. (Do not save ANYTHING to the drive. Be sure to install to a separate drive. You should close all other programs to minimize the chances of disk activity.) The results are sortable and you can filter the results to omit those files not recoverable. As the author points out, a file marked as a very good chance of being recoverable may still not be recovered -- it is not possible to know. There is a very powerful Clean Disk feature which is not mentioned in the Help file (or on the product's Web site as far as I could see). Use it to clean out fragments of previously deleted files -- this will make future searches much faster.Superbly crafted program. Free but the author accepts donations.

Looked for one file and it did find it. Told me the possibility of recovery was very good, but did not undelete the entire file. the resulting .exe file would not run correctly either.

Works well. V2.8 adds a "Clean" feature that wipes out old, overwritten files and clears the directory, so future undelete scans are faster and not cluttered with junk file fragments. However, the feature is not documented, and it does not appear to work on USB drives. When I run it on a USB drive, it finds 30,000 files (I stop it after that), and the Clean Disk option doesn't affect that. Even so, it works fine. V2.6 had problems with JPG files, but V2.7 and later work fine for me.

I have been looking into a couple of programs, ending up with Undelete Plus. Its easy to use and it has so far never failed me. A tiny program, runs just fine of the USB stick. One of my all time favorites.

I've been an avid user of "Restoration" over the years, which is (was?) considered to be the best undelete freeware around, up until I found out that it never finds my U3 drive's deleted files. I've checked many alternatives, and settled on two at the moment SoftPerfect's File Recovery, and this Undelete Plus - both great, easy, one-EXE self-contained freewares that handle my portable USB drive flawlessly, doesn't need any DLLs, and leaves no traces whatsoever (not even INI files! :)
