Perfect
SoftPerfect File Recovery = The best, easiest to use freeware file around. I've tied many, many, many, and this is the only one I've found that fits my need. I definitely recommend this program to everyone out there. As a side note, no spyware, adware, irremovable files or malware of any kind.

Excellent success rate, only one drawback
People often fail to realise that files deleted from a pen drive or photo memory card do not go into a recycle bin and cannot be recovered conventionally. This is where a program like SoftPerfect File Recovery can be a life saver. Although there are plenty of freeware file recovery programs, this is the best one that I have tried. It is a no-install program, and should recover any file that you can type into the "what for" box, eg .jpg or .mp3 files. There is one slight disadvantage though. Unlike most non-free file recovery programs, you cannot search simultaneously for a wide range of common file types, and would need to know the file extension of the lost file in order to stand any chance of recovering it. That said, this is as good as it gets for freeware file recovery.

The best file recovery program
This is by far the best recovery program I've used in years. My boss needed some information recovered on a deleted Flashdrive, I used 3 other programs that were on Snapfiles, and wasted 4 hours, with absolutely no results. On my final try I used SoftPerfect File Recovery, and literally the file was recovered within 3 seconds. From download to file recovery took less than 10 seconds, and the file was perfectly readable. I was highly shocked and relieved at the use of this program. I highly recommend using this program.

Did nothing for me....
You're downloading a single executable, not a zip files, etc. Nothing to install which is nice. However, I tried it on a Compact Flash card with deleted images and it found nothing. Other recovery methods were at least able to see the directory structure! It did show deleted files on my working disks, but that wasn't really a problem! So, useless for me. Might work for you.

Awesome!
I accidentally deleted 144 pictures from my SD card while transferring them to my PC. I searched the net for freeware recovery software, found this, read the reviews, and BINGO! Worked perfectly!! Excellent work!

Brilliant piece of software!
After spending a good few hours on my IT coursework only to lose it, this software was a great and easy way to get it back. Simple to use and works really well. I would recommend this to everyone.

Lifesaver!
I accidentally deleted a year and a half's worth of computer code, and I once I realized what I had done, I immediately started looking for file recovery software. SoftPerfect's File Recovery did the job perfectly! I'm so thankful for the program, and for SnapFiles for hosting it. Thanks :)

Wonderful and free!
Was using a new program and accidentally deleted 20 important photos off my flash card. I knew enough to not do anything until I had a recovery program in hand. Most of the ones I downloaded at first were "trial", meaning they showed me the images I had boneheadedly deleted but wouldn't recover them. They were slow too. I didn't need anything fancy, just something that would find the files that had been deleted and give them back. This did both and did a marvelous job. A++ (A bit of tech "fyi": when a computer deletes a file, it's a deceptively simple process. It simply changes the first letter of the file name then removes the *reference* in the file table to that file. The files are still sitting there, just with a different first letter. This program looks for files like that and then copies them to a location you specify. You'll have to manually change the first letter again, but that's worth it to not pay $40 imho.)

Nice!
At first I was skeptical about this little app, but it proved to work better than I expected. I have used it in several HD's on my student's PCs (with different versions of Windows ranging from 95/B-USB to XP/SP2) and it did the job very well. The interface is pretty simple and easy to use, and looks nice. On my server it recognized all my 12 drives (7 HDs + 5 Flash)! It uses very little system resources. It is very small so it can be run directly from a flash drive! It will be an essential part of my utilities arsenal from now on... The author did an excellent work.
