After using a very popular commercial Anti-Virus program for the past 15 years, I saw the program was letting unwanted items slip past so I went looking for a replacement. This one seems to do very well and at a good price as in Zero. It is easy to setup, scans reasonably quick and the right click scan on single files and folders is excellent. It is worth a look, I think you will like it. J. Mannion

Rising Antivirus is a good overall, it does have an easy interface, but is a little on the time consuming side when performing a full scan, it does not appear to use a whole lot resources when running in the background I give it 4 out of 5 stars

The free edition of Rising antivirus is almost a suite.Rising is loaded! It lacks a firewall but has the monitor, scanner, auto updates. It's configurable, updates at least daily, and it's stable. The developer provides prompt support also. Some of the features are Email and File Protection,Embedded Scans, Self Protection. This program is worthy of a look for those looking for a complete antivirus solution in the freeware category.

Rising Antivirus is a great product. I am a HUGE fan of Avast, been using it for years (it's way better than Norton's or McAfee's) but it was a bit of a hog on my laptop. Had heard of Rising and thought I would give it a try. Does wonders, even found a virus that Avast didn't find. Great product all around. The only problem I have is that the scans take FOREVER! I have a half-full 20gig HD and it took HOURS. Otherwise, a wonderful antivirus.

I am a Fan of AVG from Grisoft and use AVG on my Linux desktop as well as my Windows laptop. But I have Windows 2000 Server at home that I use as a file and print server which AVG will NOT run on any server without costly license. Rising seemed to be the closest thing to AVG. Only time will tell if it is as good or better, but so far so good!

I've been using paid AV/security programs for the last couple of years, and when my licenses expired I went on the hunt for suitable and cost-effective alternatives. I must admit that the screenshots swayed me: the Rising interface is a work of art. After a few weeks of use I'm pleased to report that it functions equally well. It's thorough, highly configurable, easy to use, downright stingy on the system resources, and easy on the eyes. OK, the scan times are a little slow - but no worse than many other similar applications that I've tried. That's a small (and the only) price to pay for this first-rate antivirus/antimalware program. Kudos to the good folks at Rising, they have built one of the best tools of its kind available anywhere, free or otherwise.

There is a problem when updating Rising AV. When doing an update, it disables itself for the duration of the update, setting off the warning Shield from Windows Security Center... Also, once installed it takes up over 173MBs of disk space; very bloated software.

I downloaded this and tried it....however, it states that it conflicts with Comodo and to uninstall Comodo firewall, hmmmmm. This version has no firewall so why? Didn't seem to play nice with SpywareTerminator either, yikes. Perhaps some work is needed here. Rising yes, but until then, I stay with Avira.

This has just blown AVG and Avira out of the water, well at least for me. Sorry, that I had to make the switch from AVG and even though it was my preferred antivirus kit I got fed up with the annoying schedule scan, that YOU CAN NOT!! modify to your liking. Now, as for RISING Antivirus, this one protects me even way before I even log on to windows! scan is about the same as AVG but you need to consider the size of your HD to draw your own conclusion on that one. The nice little "shred" tool in the context is a nice little addition tool, already had a free one on my computer but that's a nice touch as well for those who don't. So far I'm loving it and I recommend you give this one a try! you should not be disappointed and if you still prefer the others, then good luck to you kid!

I have used many antivirus programs, but I tell u that at this program is one of the best! It does not use much memory of your computer, and it updating in the background, and scans the computer in the time you set the settings to do.

It was recommended to me. I have been using it for about a day and a half so far my system has been running more smoothly than it did when i was using avast as to protection wise I wouldn't be able to tell you right now but from what I hear it's better than Avast d Avira.
