When I tried SmartDefrag it recommended a Fast Optimize. Yeah, right! Everything seemed to work fine until I rebooted. My boot time went from under one minute to about five minutes. Uninstall and System Restore didn't help, so I did a complete reload. After several hours or reinstalling, updating, restoring and reconfiguring I am back to where I was, WITHOUT SmartDefrag. Good features, terrible performance.

Seems to do what it says easy to install and un install; seems to speed up pc.

Like others, I got freeze ups. I also noticed after the first day or two, ran fine, then it actually used more resources to run than to simply defrag every so often. Didn't want to leave either, something with the uninstaller. When I tried to run Gimp, it would crash upon starting, among a couple of other apps. Didn't take me long to figure out it was this app that caused the issues and promptly removed it. My PC is back to running order now. Well, it's free, but who needs the headache?

Original defrag went ok and seemed to speed up computer, Days later it locked up and froze machine. Uninstall was problematic. I had to stop task from running first which was also problematic. After uninstall machine worked fine.

I think it is very fast, to really defragment a hard drive, I used it like two months, but I prefer other s like Norton or Windows defrag. The problem was when I unistalled it, it gave me a very hard time, it frozen my computer, I do not know why...I just turned off my computer and then everything went ok. I would recommend it if you do not have a second defragmenter. Second opinions are good.

Great idea, in that it allows for fulltime background defrag. Bad idea in that it conflicts with a goodly number of other programs and caused both crashes and lockups on my machine. Heck, free is free, but...
