Thank goodness I use a test computer to try new programs. First the installer is outdated and looks it. The program wanted to install on the root drive. I manually choose program files for my install. The program seemed to run ok except for the habit of wanting to phone home every time you start it or the reader. Once you have an ebook created you would think you could view it, NOPE. When you tried to run the self extracting book it wanted to install a reader which I though was just extracting the book so I put it on the all users desktop. Same trashy installer. Here is the bad part. When I decided to uninstall the reader it took my all users desktop folder with it. All files included. It asked if ok but since you could not read it all I though it was just the program. On top of that when uninstalling the program it did not even delete it's own program folder. Good thing this was a test computer or I would have lost lots of important data. I'll find another program thank you.

The EBooksWriter edition you tested (quite outdated) used to install by default to c: vThe new edition does install within c:program files v In any case it never used to install on the desktop. If you did this way and you had problems, we are very sorry, but it s up to you. The program is not so intelligent to understand this thing of (possible but improbable) mistakes.
Our installer is very simple and asks you no questions - license statement and Install button, that all. We like simplicity, and we won t change it with a boring and slow 100 steps installer just cause this would be more "fancy". No, thanks.
The FREE product do "phone home" if you allow it to do so: it asks you name and email for the free newsletter, and there is a checkbox such as "I don t want this". Please just check it if you don t want. Same for the FREE reader. If you allow it, it just passes name and email, and for our newsletter *only*.
I don t understand your other problem with the ebook. If the proper checkbox within the options is not checked (default), yes, it installs a reader software - this is needed cause of the embedded secure protections: the program doesn t use (and can t use) Internet Explorer - otherwise... bye bye protections.....! :o) There is an option where the ebook is deleted on exit and the ebook is not added/shown under the Start >Programs menu. Your choice.
I understand your bad rating is due to the damage you inadvertitely did while uninstalling. However as you say the program warned you - and we really don t understand why you installed on the desktop... ?? In any case we are sorry for your trouble. But EBooksWriter still remains the most comprehensive and actually one of the best ebook tools on the market.
