If you are just starting, try this
Smart Diary Suite version 4.4.0
This software has great potential, and if you are just starting to use an electronic journal, you should definitely give this one a try. The only real down side for me is the inability to import my data from other systems.

Does not live up to its promise
Xtreme Journal System version 2.1.3
I have tested this software for 45 minutes and had 5 major crashes. I cannot add people to the people section, and the free trial only allows 4 entries, simply not enough to allow a real evaluation of the potential. I have used far more stable beta versions of software. I just don't think this is ready for release

A must have application
EverNote version 2.0.0.261
I have this open all day, every day. I use it to capture scraps, ideas, conversations, contacts, just about everything.

A great standalone mailer
Qm - The Quick Mailer version 2.2
I use outlook and Gmail, but sometimes I just want to send a quick note, and not having to wait for a web browser or outlook to load is wonderful.

The best free screenshot tool ever
Screenshot Captor version 2.09.08
I must do screen captures a LOT, and I find this the best tool for that purpose I have ever used. Hot keys for every type of capture, each image can be edited easily, and converted to other formats. What's not to like?

A very nice revision
StartRight version 1.2.9
I have used this program before, but found it a little buggy. This revision appears to have cleared up the bugs that were bothering me, and I am back to using it again. I love the ability to control the order of launching, and the timing of each program. There are better startup managers out there, but none of them are FREE.

Not a good match for win2k
ObjectDock version 1.2
I have tried this program in an earlier version, and then tried it again both on my win2k laptop and my XP desktop. I couldn't even access the preferences in 2k, it kept crashing. On the machine at home it worked more or less, but is a real resource hog. There are better programs to accomplish the same thing.

My favorite analog clock.
ClocX version 1.4
I have been using this product for years. This is simply the most attractive and versatile desktop analog clock available. It has a very light footprint, enough different skins to match any theme, and even supports multiple alarms. What more could you possibly want from a clock?

A great mail client
Thunderbird version 1.0
While perhaps not appropriate for really heavy email users, this program has anything the home email user could possibly want. Far more powerful filter and organization tools than outlook express, and far better security. Easily skinned and customized to match your particular working style.

The best file manager
FreeCommander version 2004.10
I have been using this program since the last version, and this new version is an improvement on an already great piece of software. I don't understand what others say about drag and drop, I have just upgraded and had no trouble dragging and copying or moving, The interface is wonderful and intuitive. The only trouble is that it is not good with network drives, otherwise, you should ignore explorer and use this instead. It also has great bookmarking features and favorites.

Vital for any real surfer
RoboForm version 6.0.3
I love this program, and registered for the pro version within 1 month. I formerly used the evil gator product. Roboform seamlessly transferred my information and allowed me to fully kill the GAIN network. I eliminated pop ups almost completely at the time and this product does things the other program never dreamed of with absolutely no adware or spyware. The free version is great, but the pro is well worth the cost of registering.
