Easy to use, easy to like
10. Slide Show version 0.4b
A nicely designed utility with a small footprint that adds to the review and enjoyment of picture folders. I like software like this that does one thing and does it well.

Very best of its type
Revo Uninstaller version 1.34
I had been using the Safrap uninstaller which is very fast but Revo is just as fast and offers deletion of associated registry entries as well. Even some small downloads can leave behind a large number of such entries. A nice package of very useful freeware.

Clear images, great audio
Any FLV Player version 1.1.0
Found a huge improvement in audio reproduction over previously installed nFLV Player. This may be unique to my system so no general knock against nFLV is intended. One feature to consider for a later version is FLV file association.

Best tray clock replacement
Free Desktop Clock version 2.1
Tried two other similar programs but this is the best. Nice skins, very easy setup. Time, month, day and date are displayed compactly but clearly. Nice enhancement.

Effective. free and fun
Clickster version 1.10
Came across this program by accident on Snapfiles. So far I've searched for several artists and got hits and quality MP3 downloads each time. Intuitive GUI and simple operation.

Just the best
TrueCrypt version 4.2a
I'll go ahead and be redundant in that this is the best encryption program bar none. Once the encryption volume(file or partition) is set up to the desired size using the TrueCrypt Wizard saving files or folders to it is accomplished in seconds as is decrypting them to the original location. Be careful to read the excellent Help files first as there is a modest learning curve.

Developer patch doesn't work
Mayk version 2.0.3
I downloaded this launcher while I was waiting for a new key for LaunchIt!Now Plus since the original copy was lost when a new motherboard was installed. The Mayk gui is great, the concept is great but as others have noted it simply dumps the shortcuts(in my case every few days) for no apparent reason. A patch at the developer website supposedly corrects this bug but it simply didn't work...

Worked for me
StartRight version 1.3.1
I was experiencing an almost 2 minute delay in the startup of a program launcher after all other startup programs and processes were loaded. StartRight fixed the delay automatically--the launcher loads now in about 12 seconds and all other programs in approximately 1/3 less time. Its worth a try if you have startup delays as an alternative to shareware.

Solves dial-up phone access problem
PhoneTray Dialup version 2.21 R2
This program is all aces as far as I'm concerned. On installation it searches for and id's the modem and a test button verifies that Phone Tray is functional. The price is very reasonable as well. No more missed calls!

Simplifies iso burning
BurnCDCC version 1.05a
A very small but very effective app. I have Roxio which is ok for other media burning tasks but Burn CDCC can't be beat for quick and simple ISO burning.

Glad it's back
NetVue Image Finder version 2.0
This program was withdrawn by the developer for some time. To my knowledge there's no other comparable image search freeware. Missed it when I lost the original download thru a HD crash. It's a great addition to other search tools. Props to Snapfiles for bringing it back.

Unique backup freeware
Simply Safe Backup (Free Version) version 2005.0.1.730
I've tried other freeware that claim to have CD-R/RW backup capabilities but in fact require Nero or Roxio as an adjunct program or are extremely complicated in execution. SimplySafe is very easy to use and has integrated burning software. If you're a home user with modest backup file requirements like me, you can't go wrong with this free program. Excellent PDF Help File as well.

Forget "end it all"
SmartClose version 1.1
This is a huge improvement over the only other utility of its type that I'm aware of. The system snapshot feature is key to my recommendation since it saves your having to reboot after installation, in my case a 5 minute task. Has worked flawlessly. Kudos to the developer

Absolute best for image encryption
Zero Footprint Crypt version 4.03.04a
Efficiently and easily encrypts image files and decrypts to either file or memory. When decrypting to memory thumbnails almost instantly appear and can then be viewed individually or as a slide show with the embedded image viewer. A great piece of freeware.

Worth the 8.95 upgrade
LaunchIt NOW! Plus version 2005
I used the free version for over a year and found it a useful tool but the Plus version is more versatile by orders of magnitude. Essentially, the program is a way to organize your programs and folders logically into customized tabs. The interface is excellent and instantly responsive. If you're running a large number of programs of different types and have a loaded desktop, the upgrade is well worth it.

Indispensible
RegSeeker version 1.35
This program is particularly useful as an integral step in any uninstall routine. It will quickly id and remove the now obsolete entries. As a general reg.cleaner, it is quite thorough although not quite up to JV16 Power Tools in that function. But all in all this is a great piece of freeware that I use on a daily basis.

Only one complaint
LaunchIt NOW! version 1.5
This is by far the best launcher I've found over the years--drag and drop, quick and easy! One complaint: every 3 to 4 days I get a splash screen telling to register to continue use. It only takes about 30 seconds but when it comes to registering, once should be enuf. Is this developer policy or is it just a system anomaly?
