Since AusLogics Registry Defrag has been pulled out of the freeware box, they now present us with AusLogics Registry Cleaner! This new tool comes in a very easy interface and allows you to restore your registry in no time! I happened to mess things up when I ticked the "Software" box in the advanced registry scan and surely enough, the easy registry backup mechanism saved the day!

AusLogics Disk Defrag does its job very well - and fast! After the defragmenting process, it will show your system's added performance in nice percentage bars - simple, yet informative. It doesn't have support for individual file/folder defragmentaion yet, but this little tool is highly recommended!

The almost all-around image burner!

ImgBurn supports almost all major image formats. I say "almost" because it couldn't support ALL formats of course. It is a very handy image burning software and getting around the UI is simply child's play. Use ImgBurn to burn you .ISO, .BIN, .MDS/.MDF etc. Recommended to be used along with a burning suite which often lacks image burning support.

We should all be thankful for the creators/developers of great freeware programs such as this! If you can't afford to purchase the big ones out there, Ashampoo Burning Studio Free is the best choice! UI doesn't only look sexy, it's also very user-friendly to first-time users. This baby allows data verification and even has BD burning support. Perhaps, the flaw it has would be the DVD-movie burning. ABSF can't burn DVD-movie from video files (e.g. AVI); they should be converted to "DVD-movie folders" (i.e. AUDIO_TS, VIDEO_TS), but aside from that, it does its data burning and other tasks very well. Highly recommended!

OOo 3.0 sure is an eye candy, but when it comes to Features and Ease of Use, it gets a relatively "Poor" rating. One major problem is that it has issues automatically integrating with previous MS Office files. For example, even after installing 3.0, .doc's still open in WordPad and .ppt's weren't associated with any program - meaning, they have that weird "unknown" icon that we all know Windows uses when a file type isn't associated with any software to open it with. Add that to the supposedly "easier" setup UI, there are just too many features that makes 3.0 complicated rather than helpful. It is advised to stick with 2.4.1 for a while, since it appears to be more stable and user-friendly. I would still recommend OOo, just not this version.

Revo Uninstaller encounters problems when the software to be uninstalled requires a reboot. When you opt to "Restart Later" and let Revo continue the job, it hangs during the leftover files deletion. If you decide to "Restart Now", then Revo won't be able to delete the leftover files and registry.

Wise Disk Cleaner Free version 3.7

...for some unknown reason, WDC messes up with MS Office. It seems to delete an important temporary file during the cleaning process, which corrupts the installation of MS Office. I had to re-install the whole thing again. WDC is not a bad software. When the bug has been fixed, I'm looking forward to using this again in the future.
