What a great little program
KillProcess version 2.32.1
KillProcess has saved my neck so often...It is primarily designed to do the one thing Task Manager cannot do remotely decently: kill processes. If you use the Vicious option, and know a little about what processes are necessary, you can keep your computer from crashing more often than you -don't- keep your computer from -not crashing-. It's virtually silent, can be hidden away, and can monitor and auto-kill bad things that shouldn't be there. Also, the CPU and pagefile monitor virtually replaces TM for most purposes. Thumbs up.

It tends to erase all its data
Diary Dominator version 1.22c beta
This is a great program with lots of great features. However, it has the one teensy problem of being so utterly unstable that using one feature wipes the data from another and minimizing to system tray wipes everything, ad nauseum. If it had come on a CD-ROM, I would have chucked it across the room.

A little too insanely powerful
Fresh UI version 7.61
If you know precisely what you want FreshUI to do, and you very regularly save System Restore points, and you are careful to implement one setting at a time, and you understand which settings will irrevocably alter your computer (i.e. security lockouts, etc.), and you keep a lucky rabbit's foot nearby, this is the most well-designed, most effective, most truly dynamic and useful tweak tool available. The interface is pristine, ToolTip support is plentiful, and everything is more or less reversible. Registering is painless and emails are few. Best used in conjunction with TweakUI. Oh, and if you make one little mistake or misunderstand a setting, your computer and its user interface are doomed. So if you are brave and cautious, the sky's the limit.

Quick and stable
FireTune version 1.1.1
I have cable, 2Ghz Athlon 64, and Firefox 1.5 is usually still slow. I tried other speeder-upper software but had mixed results and the notorious server-dropping problems. FireTune is not nearly as fast as other Firefox-tweakers, but is, in my experience, much more stable, reliable and simple to implement. The only "problem" is the lack of nostalgia--no more top-to-bottom loading of placer boxes! All in all, a decent and effective tool.
