I dunno
MetatOGGer version 3.8
I didn't care for this. The interface is weird, it won't load from a folder, only music in single file form, "wouldn't on my pc anyway" and would NOT retrieve any info for any songs at all. I have a lot of music and most of them popular, it should have found something. I think I'll leave this one alone. It's free so you have nothing to lose by trying it.

Not too bad
Digi-Annotator
It's decent for free. You get raised boxes, etc... font changes, lacks in the interface department but can be very useful.

I think I`ll be keeping this one.
Q-Dir version 3.77
I too as other used Power Desk, etc... but I like this one better. When I work with plugins, folders, Gimp, images all at the same time, this is perfect! I don't have to open numerous windows, yet I have enough in one window and it works great. I think I'll be keeping this one. It's fast, has an easy to use interface, free, can't say enough about it.

Basic
tintii Photo Filter version 2.1.0
Well, not sure what to say about this. I sure wouldn't pay for it. It's alright on an image where the color separations are easy to find but if you have an image eg... my daughter holding ice cream cone, her cheeks get colored along with ice cream, no way to avoid it, no options, etc...there are no instructions but takes only a few minutes to figure out, er... if it's worth the few minutes of your life you'll never get back. Anyway, I can do this in other image editors and found this to be, well, boring and not too useful.

It`s ok
virtualStudio version 1.0.37
I wasn't highly impressed with this software. The interface is alright but the app seems to be a bit sluggish and doesn't really feature half of what other free image editorsdjusters do. It's a bit stuffy to me. Like the curves option, very slow responding and I am not running some OEM petty PC for the record and have enough resources to run anything. So perhaps it's an OS issue with it, DK but at first, it wouldn't allow me to open a pic, click OK, it would just hang. I really wasn't impressed with it but once again, Even if not "the best" it's still a decent freeware and you can't lose out from trying it.

Fast
Everything version 1.2.1.371
With the indexing, it is a VERY fast search, likely can't get much faster. You type, it goes through and it's "RIGHT THERE" whatever you are looking for. If you are like me, always searching for files and messing around on the PC, this is the tool you need without a doubt. It doesn't support Fatat32 but then again, they are going the way of the dinosaur with being less secure, drive size restrictions, etc...Last time I used Fat32 was about 8 years ago, for some, longer. they are old school now and need to move on. So if you decide to use this, make sure you go to the site and read how to go over to NTFS. Anyway, Everything is great and I have a feeling will only get better.

Fast color picker
ColorMania version 2.7
I don't recall using a color picker before "my have" but this is very nice, easy to use and has just the right amount of options. Shows the hex, well, different options for that as well. Just click the dropper, then drag the dropper over "wherever" and there you go.

Hate to be the broken wheel...
Shrink Pic version 1.7.0
...but I can't understand all the hoorays for Shrink Pic which is what prompted me to try it. I tried all formats and resizing, the tutorial thinking I was doing something wrong but I emailed some screenshots to myself and regular pics and they look terrible. This resizer took away a lot of quality from the pictures, it states they look as good, uh... not even close. If I could post the images I would just to show. Nah, I have other resizing software and they are far better and free as well. I was not impressed with Shrink Pic but hold no ill will toward it, it is free and has made some people happy so that's a good thing.

Very nice
Imagelys Picture Styles version 5.0
Not bad at all. There are plenty of effects and patterns, along with numerous options to work with. I think the user interface could use some work, like delete layer on right click, effects windows need a change as well like opening a separate effect window completely, not integrated with others, also that annoying tool palette window that if you touch it, it opens, at least give an option to do so completely manually. It's a bit slow on the draw compared to others and I experience lag with this constantly. Tried on 3 computers with a lot of resources, it's just the prog itself. All in all if you don't want to learn Gimp or Photoshop and just want something that will do most of the popular effects and such, then this is a great image editor and with some work will be a top competitor.

Good but not fabulous
S10 RedEyes
This would be a great red eye software, however, the selection tool is a fixed ratio, it needs to be able to skew a bit, so you need to use the -+ keys to do so which is a bit odd the way it works. You will get used to it but would be much better if a person could just use elliptical select all the time with mouse. It's not auto fix as Snapfiles review states, but close enough. Actually, I like this method better as some don't fix the eyes exactly where you would like, you are in control of this with S10. It has a few extra features but not many which is GOOD. I like a software that is good at one thing not bad at many. So this is pretty good for free.

It`s ok
2 Pic version 12.3.0
It's a nice software but I feel it's a bit behind with all the free editors that do so much and didn't hold any interest for me. It's just too old style and simple compared to most. Although in it's defense, at the time it would have been great and still is but I feel if not updated it's going to go the way of the dinosaur. I still like to say it was well put together though and the author did a good job at the time.

Very nice
ScreenHunter Freeware version 5.1
A very nice screen capture utility. I went in thinking I wouldn't like it but I did. I don't like toolbars but at least you don't have to install it, although many claim it's an awesome toolbar. Other than that, it gives you standard options, for me, that's all I want in a screen capture utility. I used to use Faststone image capture free but now they want money. I also use PicPick which is a free full editor and capture, excellent tool. If you don't want all that, then screenhunter is awesome. I feel ScreenHunter's capture is a bit faster than Picpick's, not much but some. Anyway, you can't go wrong with this. Great software.

Excellent
DiskDigger version 0.8.0
I was skeptical about downloading another recovery tool, why? Because I have used so many, free and paid for that do the same thing. To my surprise, DiskDigger recovered not only files long deleted but I had backed up a woman's hard drive of pictures when replacing her hard drive. Since then, I have formatted my drive a couple of times and wrote much info to it, it's a backup drive, and DiskDigger actually recovered HER pic files "IN TACT" nonetheless. I was impressed to say the least. Excellent recovery tool, now my fav!

Nice
Process Explorer version 11.33
What I like about this process explorer is it seems to be far more informative than others. Can't beat the price, it's easy to use and the interface doesn't get much easier to comprehend. As with any process explorer, if a newbie, look up processes before messing with them. Other than that, nothing to it!

Great detection
TrojanHunter version 5.0
I have used this in the past and it's detection is very good. Found a lot of stuff from GAOTD, which led me to deeper research and find root kits from that stuff as well. Of course the cheerleaders there said TrojanHunter was some spyware app in itself, etc...never heard of it, blah blah, well, it's not and it's a very good app. As a matter of fact, I am thinking of buying it today.

No thanks
BHODemon version 2.0.22
At one time I would have recommended this but as it's no longer supported, "I couldn't get updates" or anything, nothing but errors with the last release, this release doesn't even recognize a java plugin, I don't feel it's a valid app to have. It's like Anti-Virus that's 5 years out of date, you can run it for all the good it will do you. I also believe at one time, CastleCops was a source for updates, which no longer exists either. I hope the author comes back in full force but haven't heard anything. Until then, I feel it's useless now and haven't found anything new on it.

Not bad for basic
ISO Recorder version 2 RC1
Well, to start, yes, it's a basic iso writer that integrates well. For users who want a very basic iso writer, this could work. However, I still like Imgburn best and was still much faster at ISO burning than ISO recorder by a few min which isn't that big a deal, but to some it may be. Imgburn is just as easy to use, open, select image, burn and for advanced users it has a TON more options. To me, ISO Recorder isn't really any easier to use but may save a click or two. So if looking for something easy that will just burn ISO, it's good, not as quick as others, but good. That said, one issue was not being able to remove the ISO Recorder associations after install no matter what I did. Any time I accessed an ISO for any reason, I would get an error and couldn't use the ISO to even burn or open in ISO buster. I solved it "somehow" and all is well. Still a decent free ISO burner.

Awesome but needs something
Jaangle version 0.96b
Just used this and thought it may be another typical music organizer but it wasn't. It gets info and organizes beautifully and quickly. The only problem, I wish it would actually organize the original files. If you change the text to caps on the music files in Jaangle, it won't apply it to my main music files. If it could, this would be awesome. So I still need to find something to organize my music for good, not just using a database. However, it's still a 5 star for what it's meant to do.

Great
Advanced IP scanner version 1.5
Very easy to use with a lot of info. And no issues getting mac addy. Detected all PCs on lan, no problem. Easy set scan range, very fast scan, great software.

Good still
WinSock XP Fix version 1.2
After all this time, still no issues and love this that I had to post again. As to the person below, it's either caused from a bad dll, ms update, trojan or virus, or drivers or simply messed up settings to begin with, could even be a hardware issue. Winsock fix is used to correct these errors, not cause them. There is something else going on, or you messed up your own settings aside from what winsock fix tried to do. I still love winsock fix, works great. Just sent a copy of link to father in law, who has no computer skill, used it, got reconnected, saved me hours on the phone! Thank you winsock fix!

Not bad
Registry Fix Pro version 1.5
I didn't find this to be too "tech level" for anyone. It's very straight forward actually and the interface is simple, to the point with no need for heavy graphics. It found approximately 1023 errors on my system, cleaned them, no issues. It makes an automatic registry backup in case of problems. Plus if you go to options, you can create a restore point with it as well. I tried the registry restore and worked fine. I don't have time to go through every reg file for a definition, but being I have delved in the registry numerous times, scanned through and found nothing of importance to not be deleted. All in all, fairly decent but for the less savvy, use Ccleaner for quick cleans without worrying although I didn't feel any need to worry using this.

Not so note-able
CintaNotes version BetaM8
Ok, to be honest, it has potential, however, it's not very user friendly really. It's much more of a pain to use than simply opening up any basic text editor and keeping notes that way. There are many more decent note takers out there. It's free, I give it that. I don't like the Ins button used since I have to turn off my Num Lock to use it. It may be able to be changed, don't know, didn't bother to look as i'm uninstalling it. Once again, a lot of potential but it's completely dry at the moment.

If replacing notepad
Metapad version 3.51
Yep, as stated, if looking to replace notepad, this will do just fine. I like the transparency setting and line count. It's a step above notepad but not over done for basic text use.

Will make your life a lot easier
ArsClip version 3.1.1
You won't lose your clipboard items or history of site links if you want to use it for such. This little app will make your life a lot easier. I have used others but I like the options this one gives. I really like the permanent entries though, one of my favorite aspects of this. So if you are someone who hates copying something, then you forget and copy something else and lose the last copy, this app IS FOR YOU.

Good but not great
Digital Camera Enhancer version 1.3
It does touch up photos very quickly and nicely, it's easy to use too. I didn't like the preview windows however. Even if you enlarge it, it's not large enough to see the changes in full. If there was an option for preview in a large side by side, I would give it a 5. Example... I have large digital photos but original preview size is to compact for detail to be seen, when you do enlarge, you have to pan through the whole picture. Other than that, it does a great job.

Not something i would use
Microsoft Pro Photo Tools version 2.2
It's not something I would use but it's very nice for someone who would. It's very easy to drop an image and pin it to a map location. If you want 3D though, you better get MS Earth. Otherwise it's a 2D view which still works good. It's not slow by any means, I thought it would be. It's very different and works well and for free, you can't beat it.

Why Snapfiles, why such a low rating?
TaskArrange version 1.1.1
First of all, this is "as with the other softwares by the author" and excellent little app that does what it says, very stable, solid, easy and free. I found TaskArrange very handy, especially when doing graphics or video work and have numerous things open. [Editor: We rated it `Good` because Taskbar Shuffle does the same thing more conveniently via drag and drop.]

I like
StorURL version 2.6.10
Well just when I thought I wouldn't find anything different, although, haven't looked for a url storing utility, glad I ran across this one, it's excellent, free, easy to use and even retrieves info for you! Great and very handy software. I don't have to clutter my bookmarks anymore either, now I just save the url :-)

Keep coming back
SIW version 2009-03-17
I was using this a while back and then tried Belarc and others but keep coming back to SIW. Even though one of the best, I still use multiple system info apps but this has been one of the best and can't be beat for the price. SIW is the one I use the most.

Does what it should
Easy Graphic Converter version 1.2
Does what it should without problems, it's perfect for graphic conversion of this scale. It's definitely fast enough and haven't had errors with files like I did using other converters.

Careful
RegToy version 0.7.4.1
As others have mentioned, use this with caution! Other than that, it's an excellent reg tool and has very easy settings for those who knew the registry prior. If not, then for newbies it may be very confusing and shouldn't mess with it until learning what this does to each item. Some are very obvious of course. Anyway, this is great and for the price, can't be beat.

Great "so far"
Comodo Registry Cleaner version 1.0.17.23
While some cleaners are good for a bit, you may get issues along the line. So far Comodo hasn't disappointed and has done exactly what it says. So unless it begins giving me problems, I give it a 5.

Not bad
John`s Image Converter version 2.1
I too wondered why the rating was THAT low. I did read the cons and I don't feel the compression or other formats is too big an issue. It clearly states what it can convert images to and for typical users who simply want jpeg or whatever, this works. Yes, ok, the jpg compression would help but isn't life or death. For all intents and purposes, it's a nice fast way to change image formats. I'll use Gimp for most things but if I need a quick format change, hey, this will do just fine.

Great for all
Tux Paint version 0.9.20b
While this is an excellent kids app, even my 3 year old uses it constantly, it can be very handy for adults too. It's for everyone and as for the price? FREE? Need I say more?

So far so good
CrossGL Surface Clock version 1.00 beta
Not bad at all. Has ability for animated background, worked great. It's beta so don't expect the world but it is very easy to use, doesn't slow my pc down a bit with smooth hands. I know it's beta so would suggest color changing background and eventually clock skins. Although, may already be some, haven't checked the site yet. Excellent little software.

Not so zippy
ExtractNow version 4.39
First problem was trying to drag and drop files into the interface, kept getting some exception error. When unzipping a rar, it would stop before completely done and freeze. Also one other issue was even when a rar was done, it wouldn't have all files?? No issues with zip though. I wasn't too impressed. Aside from that, the author's answers don't do the software any justice and are simply RUDE. So all that combined, the only thing I found decent was the price. Although I must say, the FLU is free, but I don't want THAT either. Complaints help build on software, free or not and I think this attitude attributes to flaws that could otherwise be fixed and become a great little software. in other words, be a man and take the lumps to improve a software. Really , the interface itself is good, I didn't care for the functionality. Once again, it's free but I hate wasting time on something that is thrown out there.

Synced!
DSynchronize version 2.30.1
Well, after using syncback for a long time, I feel I have found something better. It's very easy to configure, more back up time options and does the job well. I love the real time backup, although "experimental" currently, it works very good. It does take a lot of resources though, more so than Halo or VM and slows my machine down drastically. Once again, back to the understanding it's just in it's early stages so no prob here. I am simply happy to have the real time when needed! If they need beta testers or anything, I'm in! This is going to be one of the best sync tools out there.

Why buy others?
Glary Utilities Free version 2.8.0.366
Let's face it, there is only so much cleaning that can be done without risk of getting rid of needed registry and system files. Many dig too far in hoping to reel YOU in. Glary Utilities is FREE, excellent, does the job how it should be. Can't say enough about it!

Nothing special
MP3 CD Doctor Lite version 1.0
I gave this a go since I have a car stereo that is picky. Well, this didn't and won't create one that will play in my car stereo so I have a few coasters. No big loss these days but still. Anyway, it's small, fast , easy to use, free. Other than that, I could find NO reason to keep this.

Good but not perfect
McAfee SiteAdvisor version 2.6.0.6261
While SA is decent, I would like to offer another opinion about NOT worrying about how you surf. SA is NOT fool proof, NOT 100% and is only a good tool up to a certain point. This is no different than any bad site protection software except that I do feel SA does a much better job than others. I found SA to be more thorough and updated than others. I would still not think yourself worry free when using it or ANY others and learning decent surfing habits is the best protection along with SA.

Best so far
SpaceMonger version 1.40
While I was using another like this, I like SpaceMonger even better. It's not all blended together, easy to make heads or tails out of, little resources, FREE, can't beat it! It has plenty of options for display, nothing fancy but that's not what I wanted anyway. I wanted something that works well with a few decent options and that's exactly what I got. Great work on this!

Worked good for me
Transmute version 1.02
I wish it wasn't in a transmute folder when finally transferred but other than that it worked great. Firefox to IE, IE to Firefox, no issues. Haven't tried Google Chrome with this yet and likely won't but as per above, they worked nicely. No problems yet but if there are, I'll update my post. One last thing, it is much easier and VERY simple to use. You select source and destination and that's pretty much it.

A nice way to diagram
Diagram Designer version 1.19
I have used this before and still do, it's not one I use all the time and other apps can do the same but it is very useful. It may be more useful to those who need to do this sort of thing all the time though. I am not basing my rating on that though, I think it's an awesome, easy to understand designer but could use a few interface changes. Other than that, it's great.

Vsogone
VSO Image Resizer version 2.02
Well, I had a fair share of issues with this. First the nag window at the beginning, then when trying to add watermark, got an error, it quit. After getting a few small jpegs to resize, the watermark I newly entered was not on the images. The biggest problem, after resizing, I could view them in Win pic and fax viewer or others but not in VSO. Hmmmm. So basically when I went to resize after a resize, it didn't want to recognize the pic files it itself created. I honestly felt this app was a bit of a waste of time and there are many more out there that do a much better job and don't ask ag for commercial purchase.

Not so good in some areas
PIXresizer version 2.0.3
After trying a few pics without squared edges, PIXresizer was a disappointment. The image was choppy, not a lot of features left in the pic. I scaled a clock pic, 256X256 png image down to 32X32 and it was fairly horrible. I did the same in Gimp and it came out excellent, smooth, nearly all features still in the pic. This may be good for squared images with a high res but forget working with icon images. You won't get a great result. So if you are looking for a basic resizer, free, it's OK.

Saves a headache
WildPackets IP Subnet Calculator version 3.2.1.0
While I had to learn to do this manually, which I still recommend in some regard, this is something that will save you time and a major headache. If you have to do something like this, it's a must have tool.

I think it was terrible.
Free RAM Optimizer XP version 1.0
I did 3 installsuninstalls with this just to test. It actually slows my pc down, not speed it up. I had issues running my firewall and many other apps. It sure didn't like Gimp and kept crashing most things I would attempt to do. I think it was terrible. I usually stay away from ram optimizers and such and this is another one that proves to me I was correct in doing so.

Free, stable, hey, nothing to lose.
4t Tray Minimizer Free version 4.40
It's tough to rate this, seems more based on opinion for this type of app. It does minimize everything nicely and if you like this sort of function, it's all that. All in all it's a pretty cool app to have and right now I am deciding if it should stay or go but it's caught my interest so I may end up keeping this. It's a decent app either way and yeah, I would recommend it. Free, stable, hey, nothing to lose.

Not too juicy
Juice version 2.22
Off the bat it wouldn't install un ... that's a big, MINUS. Finally managed to get it to install. Then of course it would have been nice if it recognized my ipod but wouldn't. After unplugging and plugging in numerous times it recognized it. Juice caused and error and shut down. Now, every time I run it, it would shut down. Being the patient person I am, I figured, let's march over to the forum for some help, well, IF there was a forum, the link keeps bringing me to a dead page. So I did some Googling to find another forum or support, well, I didn't get far and wasted too much time already. I will stay with Yamipod for now thank you. I tried but you can't squeeze JUICE from a stone. No way for me to completely say what the interface was like since I couldn't really use it.

Not bad
DocPad version 7.1
While a very nice replacement for notepad, it seems to have enough to entice you but leaves out enough to not make this your default text editor. Skins are great, etc... but functionality is more useful. I really wish to see some things added and this would be a great all around text editor. It is sitting in a gray area and needs to break free. It has a lot of potential and hope to see it become better.

Very nice
JDiskReport version 1.3.1
First of all, it gave me some trouble. There are many ways to do a scan but it simply wouldn't until I scanned one of my storage drives. Why? DK. Wouldn't scan a file set either. Then I did get it to scan partially, no graph charts.... It is now in working order and does great. A bit buggy off the get go but now I am very happy with it, it is not only a graphical chart, but you can click your way through the files and folders using the chart. How cool is that? Plus you can very easily print off the chart if need be. Very good software, very useful but could use a few improvements is all. Nothing to lose here, worth a try.

Not too shabby
TPlayer version V1R10
Not too shabby. I thought this was an all around good player but as others mentioned, bugs... I like the way it looks and such but needs a lot of work. Others are still a bit better performance wise. I had a few issues when trying to load straight MP3 files, they wouldn't load and everything would freeze. The files are fine, it's TPlayer since there are no issues with my ipod, WMP, Spider, or others. That said, this app needs some TLC to become a contender. It's on the way though and will be awesome in the near future if some work is done on it.

I`m cheating...or am I ?
Enersoft SiteGenWiz version 1.5
Ok, after using this, I felt like I was cheating, that's how easy it is. You simply type in, or throw an image in, that's it! Changing styles is a breeze. While I wouldn't use the defaults for my own page, this has taken away ANY issues with building so I could happily do any customizing without worry. Simply excellent! I found another that I thought was just about perfect, until I downloaded this. It would take 10 to 15 min for a quick page, that's it! You can quickly view the changes by the V button in the toolbar, no problem. Add links without a problem. Switch from web view to source in a split second for manual editing, how easy is this thing??? That easy! It's an editor with an attitude! Hats off and my thanks to the author or authors, excellent work!

Something wrong
PopTray version 3.03
While this is a basis for pop mail, it still has plugins and other things to include for hotmail and such. I say that because it says to download the hotmail plugin, did that, went through the whole page of steps to install it "thinking I did something wrong" and I find I did it correctly, was constantly getting errors, connection errors, accessibility errors, the list goes on. Tried setting it for my outlook, ok, it accessed it but would bring up blank mail and then an error. So I then search the forum seeing how others have the SAME issue I have, no fix. There is some other proggy they suggest to install to aid in hotmail, yahoo, gmail, etc.... But I became tired of going through all the hassle, truly, people don't only use local mail, most use webmail and I feel this should be updated accordingly if they want people to use this. Plus, didn't work for my pop mail either!

No too good
Secure Copy version 2.3
...it takes too long to copy your files. I only had 100 mb of data to transfer, 45 min later 17%. I can't say I recommend this at all. It's free though, so maybe someone else will have luck.

It did the same...
Fast Defrag Standard version 2.3
Much like others, your system ends up slowing down and not running correctly with it's usage. This is no exception. It doesn't like it when you use something like Gimp or a 3-d app, or something that uses extra resources. I guess another way to explain my experience is Fast Defrag was fighting for control, not actually working in harmony with my system. I ended up doing 3 restarts due to a non responsive OS. A noticeable difference when transferring large files over my home lan, they became slow or sluggish if you will. That said, what good is it? I have gotten rid of this plague and now my PC is healthy running again.

Changed review
BGInfo version 4.14
While prior I had a bad review as it wouldn't work, I uninstalled some system tool software among many others and I think it was a clash as it's working now. That said, it's working OK but some custom settings still won't stick. I also found it hard to insert an image correctly, no matter the size, it won't save the setting to registry. The display is alright once working but can't get bullets closer to text. Also, it won't shut off unless I change my theme. That said, I rated it better but I'm still not happy with it completely.

Good but not great
Winamp (Full) version 5.541
Winamp is alright, not the most horrible player, however, it's become as bloated as a Hollywood movie star's ego. All the garbage floating around this gave me a headache. I wanted a good player and got a resource hog with useless features "to me that is". I recall when Winamp was just basically a player and it did it's job well, now, it takes forever to do what it used to do in seconds. I also noticed a higher error and crash rate than prior. No surprise though, more bloat, less stable. I will stick with Media Jukebox or even more basic and wonderful, Spiderplayer.

MouseZoom version 1.5
It does magnify portions with the option of magnification X's. However, I didn't find it all too useful and more of a , "just there" scenario. The nag? Yeah, it's a bit annoying. I didn't feel this was something I would register for.

Great , but....
AconDigital Acoustica version 4.1
It's a really great audio editing, etc.... software. However, the lack of MP3 among other things sort of bothers me. I popped in my ipod, it crashed when trying to read the files? Hmmmmm. Ok, less impressed now. I also worked the noise reduction and didn't find, unless you have super human ears, the difference between Audacity and this. That said, it has some things Audacity doesn't , BUT one that's not so good would be the price. Audacity is free, AconDigital Acoustica is not. Is it worth paying for? In my opinion, only if there is nothing else out there that compares and is free. It is a very nice audio editing utility though. I wish some things like mentioned above would get fixed, drop the price as well, maybe 19.99??? In my opinion, it's not worth much more.

It's does what it says
System Protect version 1.0.0.83
I used this for a bit and it was a very straight forward, easy to use interface that did in fact protect system folders or individual files. It even brings up question when you browse a folder to allow Explorer.exe or not to modify the files in any way. It would not let me delete files that were protected and such. I'm still not sure what it would do in a viral situation, I have to try that yet but in all other ways, it did it's job and was very effective. I give it a 5 for now, then i'll use my Virtual to test it while getting malware, etc... and see just what happens. If it at least prevents some file modification, it's worthy to me.

Didn't find it overly exciting
Rainbow Folders version 2.05
While I found this slightly OK, I found it tedious. I had to keep restarting the app to get settings to take effect plus noticed the icons were looking like Win98 icons, and of poor quality. I looked at the screenshot and did a double take and noticed how it looks up there, is not what I got from the download. I checked for update, no go. So why it shows a nice smooth icon in the screenshot but not what I get in mine, I have no idea. Over all if you want to color your folders, this will do it and is free which is good. I just found this a bit buggy.

Wasn't impressed
Desk Drive version 1.6.6
First of all, it installed fine, nice little icon, etc... but when I tried to plug anything in, including 2 USB thumbs, 1 gig PNY, 4 gig Sandisk, and 256 Impact, one DVD Iomega, not a one of them were detected. Windows detected them, bypassed Desk Drive, nothing. I did a restart, I know how apps can be, still nothing so finally uninstalled, reinstalled, then finally, just uninstalled.

Nice but...
Secunia PSI version 0.9.0.4
as with any automated software, I wouldn't depend solely on it's opinion on software updates. Some manual thought is the best solution. What I like it for is the fact I have numerous downloads, I install a firewall, etc... and then have to do all the updates or to next version. This reminds me to replace my .exe files with updated versions after install or at least, I check for updated versions, so I don't install old next time. It is a hog on resources but just run it when you need it.

Uranium Backup Free version 7.1.0.2878
The interface was put together OK, wasn't hard to figure out settings. Downside, you have to pay for some features lacking, uh.. there are way to many GOOD FREE back up utilities or PAID versions for that matter, and this one has a long way to go before I would use it, let alone pay for it. Why does it take forever for this app to load? I have no idea but that was a pet peeve. So it's not the worst and hey, this part is free, you may like it. I didn't.

Very good
Comodo Backup version 1.0.4.337
While I like this backup software, have used it enough in the past, I feel it has some compatibility issues. Had issue with it crashing. Not sure if due to using the C-firewall or what. Had one or two errors when it went to do a self run and it quit. Not often or anything but Syncback hasn't quit on me once in all the time I've used it so I think I'll stay with that for now. This is still an excellent bk tool though and worth a check. If my issue is due to firewall, then I keep the C-firewall over the other products by them and this is no exception. If I find why the crashes occurred, I will fix my rating.

I call it MediaTunes
Media Jukebox version 12
It's a nice mix of Itunes and WMP, but BETTER. I don't like those darn web home pages though, very irritating! Seems so many have that now. Aside from that, it handled my ipod with no problems, skinnable, very easy to use. It plays very nicely, has oodles of options, I like it and it's now replaced all my media players and handles everything. Great work on this one! Oh, and if you are like me and DON'T like the web home pages when it opens, just set it to open to last page which is whatever you left off on in the options.

Whatever
Homeland Security Threat Monitor version 1.0.5
Of course a review wouldn't be honest with at least trying this, ***sigh*** even though I knew ahead of time what this would bring to my desktop. For one, I feel the threat level system is ridiculous and does nothing but cause people to over react but that's another story, so.... Ok, it's nothing personal of course. Seems like they did a good job with it regardless and perhaps would think of creating something else that we can use? But no, I don't recommend this for many reasons and as with anyone, is just my opinion.

Naomi version 3.2.90
I understand how TRICKY internet filtering can be, I really do, but when I install something and it blocks common sites but does nothing to stop porn images or porn itself, Huston, we have a problem! I found it worse to use than having nothing, why? My reasoning is this, if you trust in something, you are completely setting yourself up for disaster. I would not trust my kids on this as it would definitely let the baddies through. I would rather use a full kids browser or other ways to limit internet activity, not by using this.

Not so hot
SpyArsenal Internet Spy version 1.20
Well, it did log IE activity, however, Firefox seems to be in the clear, this won't find what's going on there. A minor security side step, not logging one of the most popular browsers. That aside, One the PLUS side, it comes with a free family keylogger version which seems better than the "home keylogger" which I rated and drew me to look into more. The family keylogger is one you typically pay for so at least that's included as a Bonus! file. However, I'm not rating family keylogger here, I'm rating Spyarsenal so the rating is for that only.

CombiMovie
It's fast and joins the files. As another said, try to make sure you are working with the same types, else you get cut offs, skips, etc... as with one of my bk home movies, I backed it into mpeg split to edit so my kids could watch it wo bad parts, joined them without the bad parts, put back to DVD with other tools of course, worked like a charm. Around 3.7 gigs in total. I wish this could be extended with making some really cool effects, titles etc... it would be awesome.

Works well
i.Disk version 1.91
It's not packed with features but it's good at what it does and the plus side, it was EXTREMELY fast for analyzing space usage, likely the fastest I've seen. Really, it breaks down to each file and such so it gives you all the info you need of what sizes are what. I rather enjoyed this one and think I'll keep it. I don't need anything fancy, just want to know what's taking up space and this shows me, plain and simple. The one thing I can say about all Memecode software, it installs fast, uninstalls fast, leaving no garbage behind. So even with the others, if you don't like the software, you must appreciate the install and uninstall keeping a system from clogging with junk.

i.Mage version 0.98
It's one of those things that are good but out of date now. It may be ok for some quick touch ups but there have to be numerous others out there that do the same. It's not practical to use I suppose. I couldn't get it to save with alpha which was a bummer. It's a bit buggy anyway. It was "fun" to use for a bit but nothing I would keep. It's free though, make a good quick editor, like paint with some more options. It crashed on making a polygon, lol. Maybe it was too much for it, DK. Anyway, give it a try, at least you aren't losing anything.

DVD X Player version 4.0.0.0
This is no doubt a good player with many features, have used it prior and tried it again. I noticed I couldn't get .iso to work, so assume it's not supported. Opening VOB caused crash, not sure why. If not supported, fine but needs fixing I think. I think the price is WAY to high for this, I can use others for the same thing and no $. It would be worth buying if it was much cheaper but until then, I'll use VNC among others. I pay enough for DVD's , I'm not spending 80 bucks on software to watch them.

Spy Sweeper version 5.8
I tried this again, thinking it may have changed as many do. Unfortunately it hasn't. Not trying to re-hash what was said but yeah, it's slow, it's a resource hog and does no more than some free software. I uninstalled it today, goodbye. I feel if I wouldn't use something if it was free, then it sure isn't worth a price. It's still better than no protection of course so I would hate to NOT recommend it, especially with all the fakes out there so gave it 3.

Not spectacular
Network Notepad version 4.6.3
It's free. That's it's best point. The interface goes back a long way, plus I keep getting runtime errors when trying to link or undo an action. Finally managed to set up the whole network, recognized devices fine, then I got an orange question mark on one PC, before I knew it, another runtime error, the whole thing shut down and I wasn't trying it again. Even when holding the shift key, I kept getting that annoying pop up stating I should hold the shift key, uh.... ok. So it's alright for free if you are one who has no issues with it. Once again, it's free so can't complain too much.

Ashampoo WinOptimizer version 5.5
This is a very nice all in one tool for clean up and well, optimization. They had the giveaway of this one as well, which I have and I must say, it's very nice. It's quick, has a ton of features and won't cripple your pc. I don't think I would pay 50 bucks for it though, once again, there are too many options out there to pay that price for this. Tuneup utilities would be my choice if I had to pay unless AWO dropped in price. Luckily, they do give away many full free software which I commend them for. However, the full prices on some are too high. Otherwise it is a great all in one cleaner and such and works like a charm. The interface is easy to use and easy on the eyes. So I dropped it a star for the price.

Blah
Personal Video Database version 0.9.8.20
First of all, if you have reinstalled windows or such, you may get a MSVCR71.DLL error when installing this. After a search through the forum I found "what I already figured" simply download the .dll file "which isn't recommended to do by some" and put it in the Windows/System32 folder. I have had to install .dll's this way a few times, just be careful where you get it. Also, I have gotten more errors trying to connect to the databases than I care to. The Terminator should be a fairly popular movie and easy to get, well, for me it was numerous tries before I actually got the file. For whatever reason, I cannot merge say T1, T3, with T2, why? I have no idea. So it has to remain a separate entity. I'll stick with EMDB over this. PVD isn't horrible but needs work.

AutoIt version 3.2.12.1
This is probably the best freeware tool I've had, not to say it's for everyone, but was a blessing in disguise. I was attempting some C++ "something I never got into", so I could write a very simple proggy to "well, I won't say on here" but it's a new idea. Anyway, this is exactly what I needed since all it will take is a scripting ability to put my app together and make er' go! I didn't know that until now of course. Been at it for a couple of hours and already learning enough to get me started, no problem. I thank the authors of this freeware, it's awesome, light, GREAT tuts and GREAT help whenever you need it, doesn't treat new users like idiots and that is a MAJOR plus! Ok, this is actually a decent compression utility all in all. However, the interface leads you around, not what I want. When you work with many files, it's much easier to use Winzip or Winrar. I had issues with multiple archives, sometimes they would zip, sometimes not but only certain ones. It was no big deal really and only happened a few times. That said, the options are decent, it's fairly quick but not something I would use for an "all the time" utility. Still decent though, especially for free.

I have a dummy computer for software such as this, running XPpro, all clean, no issues all updated. It installed fine, then after getting it all set up, it killed my drive, well... left it non-bootable. Caused BSOD upon trying to get past XP screen. And no, no AV or firewall on this pc so that wasn't the issue. I immediately used Paragon to restore the drive to the state prior to to CompuSec's install using CD and all was back. I tried it again, this time booted into Windows, then CRASH, BSOD... The error was noted in the virtual memory. Hmmmmm, funny thing, the disk is fine, new, and paging file is off since I have 2 gigs of ram in it and only use for testing. Once restored, ran disk check for the sake of it, all is good. My search for life was that of SETI help in solving connection issues. I found no such life there either. I always give things a chance and maybe in the future this will actually run correctly and we can enjoy helping out. Begs the question, if they can't run this right, who is behind the technology to search for other life? Seriously, one must wonder, is this a contributing factor to NOT finding other life perhaps? Basically, it's like a manageable application with short cuts to other sites , news, whatever. I found it to be the same as others. Everything you get now days has Youtube, Google, etc... a to do list, same ole same ole. This was nothing out of the ordinary and less than exciting so I can't in my honest opinion, even though it ran great and such, give it anything higher than a 3. Sorry.

It needs work.
Arachnophilia version 5.3 build 2209
It's not a horrible editor and has some decent options. However, I felt as though I was finding my way through a jungle after a while, not very user friendly at all. Also, it crashes every so often, likely due to it's own confusion, DK. Anyway, there are numerous other editors that exceed this one and it's better than nothing, better than using a basic text editor in some ways but I would only recommend it if you can't find another out there. Likely you can and will though. It's still decent for a free editor. As with many, it needs work.

Another small but efficient app
Filemon version 7.04
I have the whole sys eternals suite and have found every app to be very useful. This is no exception and one of the better ones. If you want to see what's going on in real time or close to, this will be the app. This also comes in handy for those little things that may be using resources that you had no idea were even there, yep, you'll find it, apps that's hogging or causing errors etc... or maybe even something that shouldn't be there. I only use it when I begin noticing issues and typically this helps me track down a left over active file that is kicking in. Like Itunes and it's updater, even though I uninstalled, the updater was going constantly and was left behind. It didn't show in processes, this found it and I deleted it, all was well.

Proxy heaven
Proxy+ version 3.0.264
I like the interface with this, it's very simple to set up, although can be confusing at times, not too bad. I ran it for a bit on my main PC and want to set up a server soon and run my mail from there where it will be kept. This will be ideal and anyone who wants to try, learn or has tried others, should try proxy+, it's FREE and does the job well. As well, using others, I seemed to get more than enough errors, this one, smooth as can be. That makes it Proxy + + .

One of the best
RegSeeker version 1.55
This is an excellent registry app. I was hard pressed to even try it as others have been less than satisfactory. This one proved me wrong. The easy to use features and search are absolutely great, it's fast, informative, and all around what I like in a registry manager such as this. I give it a 5 with no problem. As with others' warnings, I will keep the fire going in hopes to deter an accidental OS kill and state the same,-----"IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO THE REGISTRY DON'T MESS WITH ANY REGISTRY MANAGER"---- It even states that it's not for beginners in the READ MORE. If you delete something and mess up the OS, then likely you have no idea what you are doing, the app won't do this on it's own.--- That said, if you do know how to monkey in the registry, then this will be an awesome help tool! Great work!

Very well put together
Microsoft XML NotePad 2007 version 2.5
I thought this editor was extremely well put together, easy to manage, and works well. If only the OS would one day, **ahem** anyway, I would use this but I have other editors that I like a lot, however, this would definitely be a choice for me if those editors were no longer available. I think it's very good and if you need an editor like this, you can't lose.

UnFREEz version 2.1
I have worked with many gifs in the past, not so much any more but when I do, UnFREEz is what I use. It doesn't get much easier, put them in, it creates the animation. That easy. Sometimes I have to create animated gifs for web sites and Ol' reliable is UnFREEz. It's great so if you haven't ever used it, I suggest giving it a go!

Not bad but not great
Printable Notebook version 2.6
The idea as a whole for this is great, however, the interface needs a lot of work. It would be much easier to simply have a note book type where all you do is enter your info and it is added to each page, at least as an option. The tabs and methods of creating a new note are a bit hectic to use, it needs to be re-organized, put together better. In other words, it's too much for entering simple info. This is more "to me" like an office type of software and not a simple virtual note book you add info to. With a major over haul, I would definitely consider using this again but not UNTIL then. Otherwise, it's a nice idea!

Wow
Win32Pad version 1.5.10.3
This is awesome, links are auto, numbered lines, change text color. This is the ultimate notepad. The reason I like this so much is it's not too bulky or over done for a basic text editor but has really cool options that are HANDY, not just eye candy! Oh yeah... this one's a keeper and I would suggest EVERYONE get a copy of this!

Not too shabby
RapidTyping Typing Tutor version 2.2
I used it to see if I could still hit over 50 to 60 wpm, yes, that's all I can type. Anyway, just to see where I stood, it's gone down by 10% since I don't do much typing anymore. This is a good way for me to practice back up. I also like this for my two younger kids who are learning to type, this will be excellent for them. It's a decent interface, could use some changes though. I turned off the animation, the fish were making me dizzy when I'd try to type but my daughter likes them on. It also has sound option, skin options, etc... so I thought this was pretty cool for a freebie typing tutor.

PrestoNotes version 4.8.1
This is better than many I've tried, at least it HAS options. It's ok for, well, leaving notes. It does have a lot of features for it's size and more than most. Not too bad at all. The email checker does me no good, I have live mail. But still, I have poppeeper for that so not an issue. I am still trying to get used to having this and right now, it's very nice but not sure it's something I will keep for a long time.

No wow
GreenBrowser version 4.4.0129
I tried this for a bit and wasn't overly impressed. Maybe it's just me but it reminds me of an older IE. I did get a few freeze ups but I would be lying if that didn't happen in Firefox or IE7 either. I still like Opera over this, even Maxthon. While trying to find the words to describe my experience using this, it's seems like just another browser, nothing stood out that WOWed me. It needs some work and I don't feel this would be a browser of my choice in the long future. Some of the features are different but not enough to keep me hooked. I would rather install IEpro. GB is not horrible or anything and still worth a try. Has potential but again, dropping any of the current giants for this? I don't see it happening. GB will have to do a lot more for that to happen.

Finally
Light Artist version 1.5
Finally found a Vicman software I was completely happy with. Take a photo, even a dark one, watch the magic. It does a really nice job at controlling light points and such. I took a picture of a bear I had, very poor quality, but took this to it and it looked like the bear was lit among a dark forest, very cool. Oh, also did a dark tree scene, it looked like it was almost daylight when I got done. Worth 29 bucks? I don't think so, maybe 15-19, some may feel it's worth the 29 bucks. Anyway, it's nice and easy to use. Good job on this one.

Vicman Red Eye Remover version 2.0
It did correct red-eye fine but nothing that couldn't be done in most editors. Also, I noticed in most cases, this left the eyes looking as if they had cataracts. Honestly, I wouldn't use this if it was free, not at all for paid, I don't think so Tim.

VCW VicMan`s Photo Editor version 8.1
For a quick editor it alright but nothing fancy. However, I don't think it was intended to be overly complicated and bloated. With that in mind, for a really quick editor, I can't say is all too bad. If you are looking for complete editing, this isn't the one either.

A bit... warped...
Cartoonist version 1.3
It's OK. There are numerous warping tools out there and this I guess is JUST another in the pool of warping apps. The one difference is that it does seem to handle warping better and is easier to use. Although, many editors have this as a plugin or whatever so I wouldn't bother to use this and uninstalled it. Those that need just a warping tool, this would be excellent for.

Well, it's not an extraordinary software or anything but I gave it a 5 because it does what it's supposed to do. I didn't care for this
Crypto-Lock version 2.02
I installed and used, it's very straight forward, looks decent, small app. The problem is, it was not encrypting my files, it was creating not ONLY a back up version, but another file too. The original file that was encrypted was easily accessed, deleted, etc... and the supposed locked file when unlocked was nothing, zero, zilch, nada. The .bak was not a lot of good either as I couldn't restore the lost file anyway. I read over the help and such and wasn't doing anything wrong, it's just a bit buggy. I don't know, I think I'll leave this one lay and use my typical security encryption.

I am always seeing this downloaded, thought, likely due to the anime girls, ;-) so anyway, I finally thought, ok , I'll download it, test it out since it's always in the download section. Well, I'm glad I did, I now know how easy this makes it to create CD or DVD or any other covers I need it seems. Very nice although a few more standard options and interface could use some work, it's still VERY easy to use and works great. If you like anime, there are optional skins too. So now I will proceed to empty my ink cartridges on some covers I have wanted to do for some time. I can't say it's the best I've found but when it comes to ease of use it may be. Great work.

Yawcam version 0.3.0
Through my webcam software search, I began by using Yawcam, very nice, easy to use, unfortunately, doesn't like to work with some cams too well so had to use another software. The cam brand was Logistics and the other an unamed cam, it's a brand but the sticker was gone. Yawcam works with my current webcam nicely but still have issues with streaming, just goes blank with both cams. I have high speed internet, great PC resources, USB 2.0 and no other issues with streaming. I also used cqphone , messenger, and they stream fine. That said, I went to Easy Free Web Cam which worked flawlessly for me, with motion capture, etc... but as far as liking the sofware, I like Yaw better, just wouldn't work well for me. Yawcam is still great and I still highly recommend it.

G-Lock Temp Cleaner version 2.0
Well, after an install error, something to do with not pointing to the source, in other words it couldn't find it's own installer, perhaps just took a wrong turn. Well after another try, it installed. I had no issues with it finding the garbage files, however, when it came to the .zip files, I can't uncheck them?? I can't deselect, I can't do anything besides delete it. Not good. Reinstall no.2. Thought it may be another bad install, tried again, same issue. So that really put a damper on this. This is a bit buggy I think. Ok free software but not one I'd likely use again. There are far too many that do the same and work far better. But along with that, maybe it can develop into a better software over time, gotta start somewhere. So for basic files, it's ok.

The ultimate all-in-one
TuneUp Utilities 2009 version 7.0.7992
I won't be able to purchase this any time soon due to lack of cash. This is unfortunate. Why? TupU has EVERYTHING to do cleanings, restoration, defrag, registry, logon screens, and MUCH more. This is one of those softwares that you would be LUCKY to say you could find as freeware, AAMOF, I doubt it. The interface is very user friendly, doesn't leave you wondering what the heck you just did or where to go. Does a quick and painless tune up of most system issues. This is the ultimate all-in-one as far as i'm concerned. I can't say anything bad about this. After using it for a few days, I will miss it when the 30 is up. It's very smooth running, you can tell it was put together with the user in mind, not $$. Great job on this one! As soon as possible, a purchasing I will go.

Nozilla
VIDEOzilla version 2.8
Arg, I made the mistake of letting my son buy this, he's into video editing and many conversions, etc... and isn't a freeware junkie like me. Well, he is now and asks me FIRST before purchasing. It CLAIMS to support all formats but how it works with them is a whole other matter. Good luck getting the sound in sync with many conversions. Of course that's assuming you can get conversions to work after hopping numerous hurdles. It's not THE absolute worst software out there but FAR from what it claims. I hate to keep throwing the "FREE" word out there but truth is truth and have found many free apps that do an excellent job over some paid versions such as this. I do not recommend this but that's just my opinion. You may feel differently.

Is or was
Startup Delayer version 2.3.130
I have used this for some time but found as PC resources get larger, the startup becomes less of an issue. I would use this on my older computers, even not THAT old but some with only 512 ram, etc... and it makes a difference, however, on my new PC 2 gigs ram, 64 dual core, etc... startups are no longer an issue. I have MANY startup items and it takes mere seconds for them to load, regardless of order. That said, I still have much respect for this app, I just hope that in time, it does not become an unnecessary app for too many as it did on my machine. I still use it to remove some startup items which I could do manually but this app has had a place on my machines for some time and I refuse to get rid of it. It is STILL a 5 star as far as i'm concerned.

Have to give it a good rating
Crimson Editor version 3.70
I struggled as I like PSPad editor and honestly, still like it better than this. HOWEVER, it's not all too far off from it, and some ways, a bit better. I have to give this a 5, if you are looking for a powerful editor, this is it. It's easy to understand, no running issues, and an all around kick but text editor. I noticed there are a lot of undo edo's and wonder if there is even a limit... THAT is a plus. Does just about anything others do, yet it's not a large app by any means. I do like Crimson Editor for HTML better than PSPad, or even opening simple text files. So I do highly recommend this.

Really nice
Maxthon version 2.1.3.2430
I had a few issues the first being it refused to import my bookmarks from IE or Firefox. Tried everything. It wasn't as fast at downloading for whatever reason and Firefox opened faster, downloaded faster, loaded pages faster. Not as in "left Maxthon in the dust" or anything but could tell the difference. Also, when trying to view many themes, many were in Japanese or Chinese, which I have no issue with but would help to have multi-lingual titles at least. Maxthon kept going back to it's own page even though I set it to Google for my home page. After the 3rd or 4th restart, it finally stuck. So I had a few things that turned me off to this browser, HOWEVER, it has now become my second fav browser under FireFox. I always thought Opera or Flock would take that lead but not this time. Still and excellent browser! I still recommend it highly!

Horodruin version 2.2.239.0
This is a great free folder sync app. It's easy to figure out and could see this being one of those software that end up on most peoples' computers. The only thing that stops me from using this and giving it a 5 is the copy time. It seems much slower than most when first syncing a folder to another drive. Even when a folder is synced already, it's still a bit on the slow side compared to others. It still does the job however. With the interface, ease of use, price, you still can't beat it. I still recommend it but wish the copy times were faster.

Almost perfect
MaxLister version 2.41
This is extremely nice for directory listings, or whatever you need to list. So far, I feel this is the best. Why? Because others have issues when creating a list, things don't always line up and some things get cut off. This doesn't do that. Multiple methods of creating lists, very nice, keeps text in order relative to directory, very nice. No install and easy to use. If the author would like me to create some icons for this, I would be more than happy to, lol. I'm going to for my own use so it looks decent in RocketDock. Anyway, aside from the uglycon which isn't a big deal of course, functionality is what matters, I highly recommend this and will be my number one for indexing my downloads.

Clipomatic version 2.01
Very nice tool to have. It is as posted, using the ctrl combos. I had issues with the editor no popping up though, "talking when choosing from the menu, not short cut" so that threw me a bit. However, it wasn't enough for me to say anything horrible on this app. I think it could use some more features to be a top notch app. Still is really, but needs improvement. I am still keeping it and using it, everyone gets tired of losing the cache from the clipboard, this releases that nightmare. Great work!

Not what`s expected.
ClearSkinFX version 1.0
I did use this thinking I'd give it a try as a quick fix software when I don't want to open other editors for a smaller job. Unfortunately, it doesn't really fix the picture, it just blurs the image. I wouldn't call that professional by any means. A beginners quick fix, maybe, a plugin, maybe, a professional program? Not likely. I can do far better in other editors with just as much ease. It's still ok to fix some flaws in images and still recommend it to those who want to quickly touch up a digital photo but if you are looking for a miracle, you will have to look elsewhere. Still nice for the price.

Not bad, could be better
ScreenRip32 version 1.0 beta
One of the first things I looked for was the prtScrn to be allowed as a hotkey, no go. This reminded me too much of another capture utility, MWsnap or something thereof. Anyway, it captured fine and saves to decent amount of formats. I did get some shut down errors when capturing here and there. I do feel the interface, while not most important, is sort of ugly and scattered and in my opinion, needs some work. I do like the fact this runs from the .exe instead of installing on the system, but when you want to reconfigure, you have to hunt it down and would be easier from the programs menu. I always give a review in hopes to improve, not to slam or hinder a software. If this can be improved, it will be an awesome capture utility.

PC Decrapifier version 1.8.8
As the poster below, I also work on computers and I had this annoying OpenOffice installer shortcut that kept appearing on my desktop. Not a real threat or anything, just annoying. Funny thing was, the installer was hidden, not nice from something you trust. I believe it was dropped by a Java install. Either way, it would not show anywhere, I unhid items, etc... but as stated, wasn't a real threat, just a pain so I just left it for now until I did my thorough cleaning which I do manually but takes a lot of time. Decrapifier just saved me some time by actually finding it, and getting rid of it! I was highly impressed by this. I can't recommend this enough and is an easy to use, awesome tool to get rid of , well... crap. Thanks!

I thought this would be an amazing app but found out it was just, OK. First of all, it can't hide anything in the start menu, didn't for me even after a few restarts. Also, it didn't place my icons anywhere except on the desktop. My pc seemed to slow as well when using this. So I can't say I got a lot out of this but with some work I would be willing to try again.

SnapFolders version 2005
Very simple, it creates it's main folder "SnapFolders" in your Start...All Programs menu up on top. I then moved it to my left pane under Start. I use RocketDock so thought, hey, wonder if this will work. YES! So now I have it on RocketDock, no worry about opening my computer, etc... for some folders, they are all right there. So if you combine RocketDock with SnapFolders, you have a clean desktop and access to everything. I think SnapFolders did a great job with this. Sure it can be done manually but it is much easier to right click and create it into that folder automatically. Great work to the author on this one!

Colorator version 1.02
While I feel the intentions were good here, I can honestly say I won't be using, let alone buying this. The color replacing on edited image was sloppy, even on basic images. It would make more sense to click on the duplicate editing image rather than the original to change color. The interface is extremely easy, unfortunately that doesn't come close to making up for lack of a good program. I can name fifty different freewares that will outrank this by 100-1 in every aspect, price wise, quality and interface. I apologize but any amount is TOO much for this, even free I can't honestly say I would use this. If it needs work, I suggest giving it away free, building it up, working on it, then once a good product, put a price on it.

Report Magic for Analog version 2.21
While I would not suggest this for beginners who think they will get amazing results simply by clicking, I would recommend it to those who don't mind learning a bit of command line, those who already do, shouldn't be an issue. That said, their documentation is very easy to learn from so beginners should, even without experience, be able to grasp this as long as you have some patients. It will create an excellent log for you. I suggest reading about the Analog as well. It creates a log file almost instantly, doesn't get much better.

Hypertext Builder version 2006
For those who are just beginning or have knowledge of xhtml, html, etc... this is the cat's behind. It is so simple to use, add images, tables, whatever you need and preview a few ways. With some added knowledge prior, it's like having an html secretary helping you create your page. It's not so automatic where it's downright confusing and you lose your ability for manual control but it's not just note pad either. It's a perfect combination, many auto features, eg... add image button, and such, but you can also manually edit your info right from the window. I am actually excited to use this more. I had a quick page done in minutes, unbelievable. I usually do all this manually but this has given me the opportunity to work with my creative side and worry less about the basic tags constantly. While I gave TUGZip a higher opinion prior, I changed my mind after using it for a bit longer. It began slowing and causing errors when extracting, no files showing after extracting, and things of that nature. I uninstalled it and it still decided to take over my pc. I had iso images, that I downloaded from the ms dream spark page, well, they were immediately turned into TUGZip ISOs? TZ is no longer on my pc, so it's likely a leftover registry issue. Anyway, it all but rendered them useless. Luckily ISO buster repaired the issue, much faster than re-downloading. I knew it was a bit buggy prior but was a major headache after uninstall.

ZA is "as basic as I can say" A resource hog, slow startup, becoming bloated, perhaps has been bloated for some time. Any version I try, "and I do give it a chance" seems to only get worse. RISING Antivirus Free Edition 2009 version 20.58.42
I downloaded this and tried it....however, it states that it conflicts with Comodo and to uninstall Comodo firewall, hmmmmm. This version has no firewall so why? Didn't seem to play nice with SpywareTerminator either, yikes. Perhaps some work is needed here. Rising yes, but until then, I stay with Avira.

One of the best
VirtualDub version 1.8.6
This is one of the best, especially for free. It's fairly easy to use, may require some reading but otherwise awesome. My son uses it for most of his video needs. I wouldn't call it a stand alone type app, but in combination with some other video tools, you have a top notch suite of video tools.

Useful
Cpick version 2.6
Wish I would have used this before when creating icons to match a program's color scheme. Would have made my life easier! With the click drag feature showing the hex of the color, it's excellent. Great little app, a must have!

Even better
POP Peeper version 3.2
I used POP Peeper back when the interface was very basic. It's a bit more than it was and still a great email notifier. With all the email changes over time, I had forgotten about this. I just began using it again and it's better than ever. Handled my Gmail, Hotmail, POP accounts, with absolutely no issues at all. I used ePrompter for some time but still couldn't get it to work right, so I gave up on any email handlers after a while. Now that PoP Peeper is back on my desktop, it's staying there. Forgot how nice it was to use this. So easy to add accounts, nice little notification, not real intrusive if you decide you want the pop up notify. Still a great software!

Does the job
Advanced SystemCare Free version 2.86
All too often I forget I've used this for a while and never had any issues with the one click scan epair on any pc I've used it on. If so, it was due to issues that already resided. "Not saying it can't be or hasn't been" it is a deeper utility than say, GlaryUtilities, although that's a fav of mine too. The view details needs some work although I think it's Beta right now the way it opens up onto the site page. While it's one of my favorites, I still feel it needs work in some areas, among them, what files are being protected, a list in txt would be nice. Oh well, for FREE, it's still a major and respected competitor among it's ranks. I like it and will always use it. Newbies may want to read before using some other tools though.

Well, it`s Microsoft
Windows Defender version 1593
Ok, for an MS product, it's not too bad, however, it seems to hog an awful lot of resources. I found I couldn't shut it off, I'd end task and it would pop right back up. What's up with that? Sure, if I want to go into services and all that, blah blah blah, but on the bright side, it's ok for those who may not know about getting something else that works far better and free. I noticed some apps wouldn't run with this installed, there was no blocking or anything, just wouldn't go. Once uninstalled, the apps were back! So all in all, I would recommend it over nothing and for MS, it's not bad. However, I removed it and will stay with what works. Final say? Some swear BY it, I swore AT it."

All i can say is....
VCDGear version 3.55
where have you been all my life? So many times I would have loved to have an app like this. It's so simple to use, no rocket science, runs fast, has great output! I agree with post below... 100

This is what I needed
Access Manager version 2.1.58
While I like RoboForm, it was a bit too much for what I wanted, not to mention the problem with email not being a secure source. That said, this is excellent for doing what I want, storing, organizing, protecting my saved passwords. It's very easy to use, up front, and I like the fact it Exports my lists of passwords so if I want to print it, I can keep a hard copy as well. I export to PDF or whatever and it works great! Also, it's password protected, "Master password" protected even to export or print which is a huge deal to me. I have no complaints on this and think they did a wonderful job with it. It's now staying on my PC for good!

I can`t agree
OrangeCD Player version 6.2.4
I simply can't agree with the ratings on this one. First of all, be prepared to boil a bit when you see it's 30 days trial version, it's not though, it's free but had to quickly make sure I downloaded the right one. In the ABOUT it states this part is freeware. Hey, I know, how about stating that at the BEGINNING? In my honest opinion, I found it a bit tedious, running from task bar, creating the db, and then of course downloading the cataloger separately. Ok, still no big deal on any of these and doesn't affect functionality. I would rather use spider player. This is ok but not my cup of "orange tea" I guess. I would still recommend it to others though and is still an excellent freeware.

Weather or not
Weather Pulse version 2.10.7
I didn't keep this on my desktop, why? A number of reasons, one, the radar is very old school now and there are many other better views of radar that this. Also, I don't like my resources being notched out by things like this, I'll keep my bookmark instead and go right to radarsite. I actually like Accuweather desktop over this but haven't used that in some time. Last time I used weather.com's desktop weather, it was as bad as running Norton. So that said, I think WP is better than that but still needs some work. I don't like the interface, the maps don't always stay either. Not to mention I had problems with it going back to Texas instead of my city. It worked after I rebooted the PC but still, I don't think it's THAT great. It's ok though.

Maybe I missed something
UnzipThemAll version 1.04
While this is handy as is but it's nothing I can't do with my other zip utilities, select all, extract to specific folder. Works for me anyway. I couldn't recognize zip files from anywhere besides the given drivesolders until I reinstalled. Then it has this habit of closing to the tray when in middle of operation. Last but not least, only recognizing half the .zip files in a folder??? Too much hassle to unzip an X amount of files. As such, I don't want extra clutter in progs for a half of a zip utility, I'll stay with a full zip utility that does the exact same thing anyway.
