Great!
Rainlendar Lite version 0.22
Rainlendar is such a useful little essential program for your desktop, it is so light and quick, I now don't have to install huge desktop customizers just for the calendar features!

Excellent freeware program
OpenOffice version 1.15
Everybody should try this, such a good freeware download. Offers all the same features that the Microsoft suite does, and with fantastic downloads like this available for free, unless you have got the Microsoft programs with your computer it just doesn't seem worth going out and buying it!

Very smart browser
Opera
I love the interface of this browser, very neat, reliable and easy to use. Though I'm perfectly satisfied with Mozilla Firefox, this is definitely the next best thing. Did not experience any problems whatever while using this browser.

Not for me
Avant Browser version 10.1.030
Reminds me of IE but just with tabbed browsing.. personally not too keen on the interface and buttons and toolbars at the top were too easily moved around and lost. I find Mozilla Firefox still seems more neat and professional than this browser.

Great!
Thunderbird version 1.0
Thunderbird is a fantastic email client, because it is so quick and runs so smoothly, there is nothing really much more to say, because what more do you want? Receiving emails should ideally be fast and hassle free, and Thunderbird helps to accomplish this. I have had no problems whatsoever. I really like the way the address book is set out as well.

Impressive
602PC SUITE version 4.1
Using this for a while now and it's great, why pay lots of money when an office suite as nice as this is available for free? It has all of the features you are most likely to ever need and more, and I recommend it if you don't have access to Microsoft Office, because it's not worth buying it.

Perfect im program
Trillian version 3.0
Trillian is wonderful and getting better all the time! I definitely recommend it especially if you have a lot of contacts and want to maintain the speed of your computer- downloading lots of different IM programs to keep in touch with your friends and family can be a pain! It has a lovely, light interface and changeable skins, and on the Trillian website there is also lots of plugins, I wouldn't change trillian for anything. The best thing is that it's free and doesn't give your computer spyware hassle! Try it!

Couldn't live without it
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop is one of my most treasured programs on the computer. Theres simply no limit to kind of digital art you can make in this program and it is such a useful tool to have - I definitely recommend any aspiring graphic artist or person working in an art related profession to consider investing into this great product because I doubt you will regret it!

Excellent
Mozilla Firefox version 1.01
This is such a well-made browser that certainly has been well thought out, suiting all the users needs. It makes internet a much more pleasurable experience rather than a painful, slow and buggy experience: it sounds like I'm exaggerating but you really won't realize how unappealing internet explorer is until you've tried this. The tabbed browsing is a great feature, and yes there IS other tabbed browsers out there but this one is my favourite having tried all of them. It makes pages load quickly, keeps your scrollbar how you want it, blocks unwanted pop ups and best of all protects you from the dreaded spyware that no matter WHAT I tried I couldn't seem to avoid in internet explorer, especially my ever changing internet home page when I loaded the browser! I thank Mozilla for this great freeware program and I hope they can continue making great products like this in the future.

The best computer media player
Winamp (Full) version 5.08
I LOVE Winamp it is so easy to use, you can manage playlists and change the skins whenever you want, it also seems to be such a small program so it doesn't slow down your computer like some music players seem to. It's totally free and I recommend everybody tries it. I've used to for over a year now and my computer wouldn't be complete without it!

Couldn't ask for more
FileZilla version 2.2.9
I am very happy with this program, it is so easy to use and fast, have no problems with it - makes managing websites so simple, and it's FREE! I recommend everyone to try it.

Fiddly
SmartFTP version 1.1.984
This program made uploading files quite complicated for me, as it is seemingly impossible to just upload one file instead of a whole folder. Lots of buttons are needed to be clicked and settings changed before it is easy to use and it is too complicated. Overall I would recommend it more for people who are using webspace for storage of stuff but not for people who want to own websites easily, i think I prefer FileZilla than this.
