In the top three for word processors
Jarte version 3.2
In the battle for free and open source word processing there are the big three, Jarte, Openoffice and Abiword. Jarte wins points with me for its ability to handle footnotes and headers a little bit better than Abiword (or at least, easier to get to). Openoffice is just huge but awesome, and yeah, just get Jarte.

Tied with ybook for the best reader
eTextReader version 1.8.2
This program is absolutely excellent, and has replaced yBook on my computer for the best Gutenburg reader program. I've got to give Spacejock Software's Ybook the advantage in overall appearance, but eTextreader seems to have a few more features. Either one gets the job done, but I seem to recall eTextReader offering a setup that was a little easier to read overall. Check them both out, because you really can't go wrong either way.
