This program has a small memory footprint and works quickly. Easy to use as well. However, its features lack something. I liked the Pencil sketch feature the most, but found the clone stamp, lasso, the rest of the filters and some of the adjustments lacking in quality found even in other freeware. I would only recommend this to a home user not a serious photographer or artist.

Snapfiles rates this as "Fair" and I agree! The program's features are disabled unless you pay the $19.99 when you click "Register". It has nine categories to file your Start Menu programs in, but if you pay for the "pro" version, you get to create your own categories. Also, there is an Explorer mode which you can arrange folders in also, but not only is it confusing, its "Create New Folder" option is disabled. Seems this is more a tease than a sincere effort to give away a program.

I've been using this program for a couple of years now, and have to admit, I even have a second copy as backup in case I lose it. Its become that important to me. Its an easy program to use, it has many features to make adjustments as well as some artistic creativity. As a photographer, I use Photoshop, but for quick and easy adjustments, which consists of most of my work, I prefer Picasa. I highly recommend it to novices and pros alike.

...this program was faster. This program has a lot of potential, but it falls short on my XP Laptop (didn't try it on my Vista64 PC). It is very slow in loading, and is a memory hog. Also, as a photographer, some of my photos are not in need of indexing, but there is no way to remove them from the index. The only option is to "Delete" the photos from your hard drive, but not to remove them or hide them so they don't load. I wish this was faster with better features, I like the way its setup and some of what it proposes it can do.

This little program which can be used on your flash drive as well as PC, opens from one to four Windows to explore or compare. I often have to compare my many photographs on two or more discs which are my backups, and I think this program will help me to do this easily. This program has many features from colors to font colors and basic display arrangement to suit anyone's personal taste on how they want to view their files. Its very user friendly as well. Thank the developer for this nice FREE program.

Difficult to understand and use

If this program was more user friendly and had less complicated documentation, it could easily be Shareware. Even at a FREE rate, its cumbersome to use, and hard to understand even after you read the help docs. The one thing that I found difficult to grasp is, how to use this free standing program in my photo folders unless I copied the executable to the photo folder. That would pose a problem because I have many photo folders and feel its impractical to copy this executable to each one. I would have rather liked a better interface or have a shell option (right mouse click) to execute this program anywhere I want.

This program is a nice program if you want to keep notes on any subject or category. That feature is great. There is some redundancy when you want to add a note or paste from clipboard. Your new note will paste into another category instead of create a new one. Also, I created a category and a subcategory and found it hard to delete my test. So, I deleted in the ini file. I know its FREE, and appreciate it, but my review is intended to help someone to decide if this is for them or not. As for me, I'll use it for a while and see if I like it. Thanks to the developer for this FREE program.

This program has great potential, but I see it falling short in a couple of ways. First, no instructions or documentation on what the slide bars do or don't do. Secondly, it is free standing, but is offered as a plug in for Photoshop if you pay for a key. Photoshop has a method of isolating colors by using layers. I am not sure why any Photoshop user would want this plug in if they have a simpler way to achieve the same thing. I would use it as a free standing program if I knew more about what the slide bars are supposed to do or not do.

This program has a great deal of potential to link surfers through text notes. However, I envision that if this program were to be widely used, at this stage, it would be hard to sort through all the data to get any meaningful value from this. As a small profile program, it can be effective for companies and private individuals who use it as "buddies" list. Others might get bored with this quickly. I agree with Snapfile, that this needs some "usability improvements" and it lacks the ability to create private notes to yourself. If you get this to read interesting opinions, you might be disappointed at the immature comments this forum is being used for. This does have great potential and I can see how corporations would want to invest in this some day. Now its in my opinion, a beta program.

Practical but needs improvements

This program is a no frills basic contact manager which does not have a large memory foot print. I think this program has some drawbacks, first, the editing of emails and phone numbers is tedious. Secondly, birthday reminder will not work with just a date and month, you have to know the year someone is born. Thats not something you always know about someone. Finally, on the wish list side, it would be nice if you could add a small passport size photo of the contact. This program is practical, but needs some improvements. Thanks to the author for his FREE program.

Great desktop takeover

As a photographer, I have thousands of photos which I would like to enjoy on my desktop instead of the prepackaged that come with the computer. You don't have to be a photographer to enjoy your photos with this program. Although all programs could use some tweaks and improvements, this one seems to almost be perfect. The developer also has great supportive instructions and the program is easy to learn. I had my new desktop in ten minutes from download. All I can say is, get it now while its free, I doubt such a good program will be free forever. Don't forget to thank the developer for making it FREE for us.

...its a nice program for nothing! I found that I liked the rename, resize, contact sheet, CD executable. I did not like the way the text looked on the contact sheet, way too large. Overall, as a freebie, it packs a nice variety of graphic enhancements normally found in expensive programs or the user needs multiple programs in which to achieve renaming or resizing or contact sheets. I give this program a "B" for great effort. Thanks to the developer for this FREE program which I intend to make good use of.

I try to stay away from computer sticky notes because of their lack of ease of use and their overkill of options. However, this "IQ Notes" was done with some "IQ" in mind. Its ease of use, small memory footprint, and options are worth every FREE penny spent on this great program. One thing I would have added would be, to change the font, font color and its characteristics such as BOLD, italic, etc. For a FREE program, its wonderful, and I plan to use it from now on. Thank the developer for their FREE present.

My photo collection is now in the thousands, and I need some order to find the ones I like best. Every batch rename I have encountered seems to have lots of variables and learning curves. This program is simple and ready to work for you in matter of seconds after install. Select your files, choose a name, add a numbering count if you want, and click "Start" and before your mouse is off the START button, you are done. Its fast, simple and uncomplicated. Thanks to the author for this wonderful FREE gift!

I liked that you could add pictures to contacts or your notes. Notes have sub folders which can have your choice of icon to identify what sort of info is in that folder. There are many other options which surprisingly, are as good as a pay for program. The instructions are clear and easy to understand. GUI is excellent, and because its portable, it has a small memory foot print and doesn't need any registry entries. Thanks for to the developer for a FREE program which is impressive!

Two things that disappointed me about this program, first, its not that easy to use. It could be more user friendly. Secondly, it stores your thumbnail pictures on your disk and eats up disk space. I was also disappointed by its lack of undo features. The undo features only went back a few steps, then you are stuck with the last change to your photos. Tried to put a watermark, and that too is complicated and cumbersome.

I have tried this program and found it to slow my computer down. Also, it has an update feature which by design, wont go away. It gives you the option to not have it pop up at inconvenient times, but then you have to click for it to proceed with its update search..kind of an oxymoron. I am not impressed with this and am uninstalling it.

My computer began to start windows installation program to install Office 2003, which I dont have. It happened at startup and when I right mouse clicked on a folder or file. Couldnt even unpack RAR or ZIP files with right mouse click. I downloaded this program, and within 2 minutes was able to disable the Installer in the "Services" tab. I appreciate this FREE program and how fast it works.

Yes, this baby has everything you need to convert. For a small lightweight program, it sure packs a strong punch. Not only does it have the many conversion options, but if you click on the "Expanded" option, you get a calculator and a save to clipboard option. Very impressive! Thanks to the developer for this FREE program.

This is so much easier than having to open some program just to get to a calendar. I used to right click on my tray properties to bring up the calendar just to get a date in future or past. This program is right there, just place your cursor over the time on system tray, and there is your calendar. Its easy to get from month to month and year to year. Great idea, thanks to developer for this FREE program.

This is a nice small program for your Flash Drive for private info and passwords. Two things I noticed that make this program somewhat almost perfect but not quite. It has no help files, which it may not need due to its simplicity, and two, it will only allow one instance of text saved per file. It will allow different file naming, but when you save one, it saves the others with the same info. Also, one instance of password per file folder. Cant use different passwords in same folder, but can if in different folders. I'd still recommend it for anyone wanting to maintain their privacy while using their flash drive on another computer.

This product is rated "Fair" by Snapfiles and poorly by raters with a score of one. Snapfiles suggests this wont stay in system try, thats true, but you can add it to your "Quick Launch" tray next to your Start button. I did find a use for this which I think is very practical. This program accepts URL code links, and when you copy your favorite web site, which is Snapfiles of course, you can click the link to get there. Categorize your favorite links and you have a great easy to use bookmark that you can pull up directly from your Quick Launch. And if you really like this program, you can rename a second version of the executable program and use it for your notes, also to be launched from your Quick Launch.

As a freeware, this program has more features one would expect from something free. As a photo editing program for the novice, this is a great way to start and have fun with your photos. For someone with more extensive experience, this makes a nice addition or great for quick editing or batch renaming or resizing. I recommend it, and thank the developer for making this FREE to us.

I already have two note savers, GSNotes C-Organizer Por, but I like to try new things, especially if they are FREE. I found this program difficult to work with. The page shows a third of it only and if you want to see more of it, you click "CTL+Click" (click being the button you see on the program). I tried it and nothing happened. I tried using the shopping list and it hid my list which were only three items, I had to scroll down to look for my second and third entries. I found other problems, minor ones, which made me disinterested in a program which either doesn't deliver or is hard to get to work. This one did both.

This is a nice and easy to use program. I like the notes and the Explorer features best. I thought the calender would allow some appointment setup, but its just as the author says on his web page "a simple calender"....that it is. Thanks for the FREE program.

Are you worried about which web sites have potential virus scans? Do you surf on the web reluctantly and afraid of "stepping" on a hacker web? If so, this FREE program is for you. It warns you in a subtle way using color codes and mouse over information about each web site. RED is BAD, Green is GOOD, etc. I love this handy and very necessary program!

If you use Firefox, and you have several windows open at same time, this program is for you. Its easy to install and easy to configure. Shows you thumbnails of open web pages instead of you having to click each tab on Firefox. I'm glad I got this and thank the developer for this FREE program.

I tried this program with my Firefox 2.0 browser and had to download a tool bar to switch proxies. The configuration took forever on the Jap program and in the end, it still didnt work. Too much is involved in this "FREE" program to get it to work. Not sure what SnapFiles did that they claim its a "Very good" program, but for the average user, this is not something to consider. Plug and Play, it is NOT! It is way too complicated for what it is designed to do.

I was so eager to try this program and add it to my USB drive, but the program has a "requirement" of "Java". My computer has Java in several places, and yet, this program requires you to write a Batch file addressing the Java.exe so the program can locate it. I have written a few batch programs in my time, but I feel the days of DOS and Batch processing manually are over. These days, we do "PnP" or Plug and Play. If this program needs to be configured via batch processing, its not appealing to the average PnP user. I know I could make this work, but I dont need it bad enough to go through all this. I want to share FREEware with people I might help with their computer. This is not one I'd bother to install.

...First, I am working with 1Gig of RAM, enough to support this program, but OFTEN, when I try to open it after having downloaded a program, it seems to show in Task Manager that its "Running" but the window wont show. By clicking it again it wont come up either. Trying to "close" it from the task bar doesn't work either, you have to use the task manager. Secondly, when you want to create a zip file using the "shell extension" it doesn't allow for creating a new name. It offers an existing name based on files in the folder, but wont let you create one. Other than that, it works quite well and supports many compression types. I just feel that the failure of window to appear is a bug. It never happened to me when using WinZip program.

...first, it wont save multiple icons, you have to save one at a time. That takes way too long. Secondly, I had it search my system files for icons and clicked on one of the choices it produced, and it turned out to be a system file which reacted adversely to my selecting it. I got something like 20 error messages as a result and the program shut down. I have deleted the program already.

The author is more concerned that you purchase his Delux version instead of using the free one. His HELP is also full of heavy sells to buy the Delux. This program will ID tag songs, but wont save the tags. Whats the use? I want to tag my tracks and then save it to file....not copy and paste. Sorry, but no Delux or free version for me.....its deleted.

After having paid for MusicMatch $20.00 to have the program not work unless I update and causing my computer to freeze up, I've decided to find a simple and effective music player. Spider can play whole files or single albums, and you can create your own library to recall favorites to be played again. Only advantage MusicMatch has on this program is it can tag song names and CD graphics. Otherwise, this program is great. Now Im off to find another program to help me tag and find graphics for my CD's. Im sure there are free ones out there that can do it. Thanks to the developer of Spider for making this FREE for us.

This is a nice little program thats visually easy to understand and gives you various ways to view weather, by day, week, hourly and has lots of other nice features. I highly recommend it! My thanks and compliments to the author for this nice FREE program.

This program gave me a "server error 404" four times when I tried to find CD covers, and two times when I tried DVD covers. I deleted it from my computer.

What a great program, it shows the picture as soon as you right mouse click. Installs in seconds, and works instantly. I highly recommend it to anyone doing graphic work or even the novice photographer who has a collection of photos but doesnt want to open a program (which eats up memory) to view thumbnails of the photos. Don't forget, its FREE, thank the developer for their gift and their time.

Slows down my web surfing process

This program works as it says it does on my Firefox browser, but it also makes anything else I do virtually impossible. ANY download that I make, regardless of its size, causes me to be unable to view web pages as I am downloading. Whats the point of using all the possible download channels if it uses up your capability to surf? I prefer the old way better, letting Firfox download while I surf. Im in no particular hurry most of the time and prefer not to have something slow me down.

Just downloaded this program and tried it out. It is not loaded with features, but what little it has to offer, is done well and is quite easy to use. If you make web pages or have a need for a personal picture of yourself on some profile like Yahoo, this is great for enhancing what the picture will look like. Dont forget to thank the authors for their FREE products, its through their kindness that we get these gifts.

This program takes seconds to download (104kb), yet it can produce pages of thumbnails instantly. You get to select rows and columns etc, and where to save new file to. However, what I dont like about it is, that it doesnt just make a page of thumbs, instead, it shows the page, but soon as you click on a thumb, you have to start scrolling to "Next" and "Previous" thumb. I guess Im looking for something which you just click the thumbnail and a larger picture appears, but I cant seem to find it. Anyway, thanks to the developer of this program, its FREE, and thats generous of him or her to make it so for us.

Flash32 writes that he/she wished Snippet would have a "search" feature. I just downloaded it, and it DOES have that feature as well as Print and print setup too. Its a nice little program for keeping tree-type notes, easy to use and simple....oh, don't forget, the author made it FREE for everyone to use, and for that, we are greatful. Thanks!

I wont take any Kudos away from the author, he was kind enough to make this great program FREE. One thing I noticed, he writes in his Help and in his online Manual for this program, instructions that most novice computer users would have no clue how to follow. And those of us who can follow those lengthy programming instructions wouldn't want to go that far. All we want is a simple user friendly program that runs as soon as you click the icon on your desktop. I guess sometimes authors get carried away, like scientists, and they want much more for us than we can consume. The basic operation of this program is simple, but if you want bells and whistles, you have to do some WORK to get them. Thank you author of Rainlander for making this FREE for us!

Unlike other note keepers like Treepad Lite, this program simply lets you make notes in an alphabetic order. The subject line and the text box become the subject of an email and text message of the email if you click "Email". Your email pops up and your message is ready to go to whomever you wish to send it to. Nifty! It will also go to any hyperlink you have on your notes. I found only one program omission that should be in any text file, and that is "select all" to delete or copy. This program does not have this option. Otherwise, its easy to navigate and use. As for the printing output, this has alot to be desired. There is very little margin alottment on the sides of your page. This means, it almost prints on the edge. The top margin....whats that? No margin on top either. As for printed notes, I guess it will do. I will use this only to keep quick notes and doubt I will use it to print them.

Simlarly to the comment by "Golata", I too have downloaded and deleted this program over the years, only to end up with it again. This program is so practical, you can list your notes similarly to your file folder arrangements. You can nest folder within a folder for better organization. It lets you put in text files and hyperlinks. It doesn't let you put pictures, as the paid version does, but hey, this is a great note keeper. Thanks to the developer, we have yet another FREE gift instead of having to spend $19.95 and its a very good program. I highly recommend it!!!

If you are like me, and you have no clue you are making a spelling mistake, this program will alert you, if you chose it to, whenever you misspell something while you are typing. Its simple, easy to install, sits in your system tray and waits for you to start it. Once started, you can chose for it to show you a small floating window with the misspelled word or not to. You can choose to have it beep or not. I highly recommend it for anyone who is concerned about their spelling abilities even if you are just sending a quick email, this will follow your keystrokes. And don't forget, the price is right, FREE, thank a program developer for making it available free.

If anyone who remembers the original Windows 3.0 Card File, it was a great little organizer for anything you needed organizing, recipes, phone numbers, and any other info you wanted stored alphabetically. It even stored images. That was then, and now the closest I have seen that someone has tried to match it was a program called "AZZ Cardfile", its good and does lots of things. .........However, its got lots of bells and whistles that some may find too much....Well, this program "Am-Notebook Lite" is the answer to AZZ Cardfile and the original Windows Cardfile....Its simple to use, has font and backup options and even a timer to remind you to do something with the program. It can allow images stored without draining your memory, and allows for Hyperlinks (URL's)...... I recommend this program as a great way to save things alphabetically. Congrats to the developer, and thanks for making it FREE!!

Ok, I have a Notepad alternative, but I like trying new programs. This one bit the dust in my test. Most biggest complaint I have, is the difficulty in making preference changes. Also, some of the options available are not all that clear as to what they do. .............The Notepad alternative I use, "Win32Pad", available on this Snap web site as freeware. I can say it beats this program any day.

For years I have tried various versions of Notpad replacements, and have never been happy with any. One even took over my notepad and even after some renaming, notepad never worked right. This program, Win32Pad, is easy to use and easy to configure. I have placed it in my C:windows directory and renamed my notepad as "notepad.old" and in its stead placed win32pad but had to rename it to "notepad.exe" and I added to the same directory all the accompanying zipped files such as the help file, the ini file and gid file. Basically, I extracted the files from win32pad into the C:windows folder so when it needs to start or get a help file, it will know where to find it. I highly recommend this program to anyone seeking a well designed alternative to Notepad.exe. Thanks to the developer for making it available and FREE.

I've made buttons on a very expensive program called Photoshop and had to use its plug-ins to get those fancy buttons. Well, this lil ol program does the same thing and more for FREE. You can bring in a bmp or jpg picture to use as a background, and from that you can make buttons, circles, and even frames. I used a picture of a brick wall and made a nice picture frame that was made of a brick wall. I suppose, you can make this same thing from pictures of clouds or just about anything. This is a small program and I have a short cut on my start menu. Not a memory hog either. Congrats to the developer and thanks.
