There are many products that claim to speed up modem connections. 99% of them don't work and the other 1% barely have an effect. Those that do have an effect often accomplish it by reducing visual quality of pictures. This software is part of the 99%. The speed limitations of 56K modems are caused by sneaky tactics of phone companies. True 56K hasn't existed for years. At most, you will get 33.6 no matter where you live or which ISP you use.

I've installed this software on two different computers. It completely corrupts the codecs. As far as I'm concerned, user beware.

By far, AVAST is the best anti-virus package, and one that most users have never heard about. It's detection rate is better than any popular commercial product I've tested. Unlike other AV software, AVAST does not gobble up system resources or clutter your operating system with unwanted annoyances. The interface is clean and easy to use. Also, it's one of few AV products that can scan before windows loads, which is vital to preventing infection. You can use the free version as long as you want without any hassles but it's worth every penny if you buy it.

AVG is on par with most major anti-virus packages. It's fairly easy to setup and has a robust set of features for free software. However, it does hog system resources and its detection success isn't extremely good.

If you buy encryption software, you're wasting your money. TC is better than most commercial products on the market and also more secure. Stop looking for something better. There isn't anything better.
