Simply a gem!
PerfectDisk version 8.0
There are no simple words that can describe Raxco's PerfectDisk. As a computers engineer I could write a full tech article about its perfect defragment engine, though is not necessary. Get it and you will remember me!

Fast, and reliable, a downloader's friend
Mass Downloader version 3.0.577
I registered MD almost three years ago. Since then i used many others like the famous Getright, RegetDX, IDM, IDA etc. After a week using each one, i was always returned back to Mass Downloader. It's the only d/l manager that give me everything i need, fast and relieable download, speed control, extremely small footprint, less resource use and really informative tray icon tip. Besides them all, Metabroducts support team is very helpful and responsive. I wish i could say the same for many other authors.

Unique !!!
Ad Muncher version 4.6
There are so many popup blockers, ad removers and other hacks that try to keep browsing ad-free. Three years ago, I've got Admuncher, an unknown small project those days. Since then, Admuncher is not only my favorite tool, but also a way of life. I cannot even think my internet browsing without it. Many times, tried some other competitive products, just because of curiosity. Nothing comes close to AM in terms of reliability, stability speed and filtering features. Bravo Murray, excellent job !!!

Excellent download manager with features not ...
ReGet Deluxe version 4.0
Excellent download manager with features not found in most similar programs. It's fast enough although not as fast as "Internet Download Manager" or IDA. Reliable and rock solid works flawless and most users will be happy using it. Unfortunately i cannot suggest it, although i'm registered user. Reason is support, Reget has one of the worst support teams. They delay to answer support e-mails, many times they don't reply at all. I tried their newsgroup, but their representative there is just another rude guy. It's a shame.

A 16+ mb bloatware !!!
DownloadStudio version 2.0
I know that this program won some awards, including PCMagazine's Editor's choice, but i cannot suggest it to nobody except some corporate officers. This program has an excellent user interface and quite acceptable speed but nothing else. It only supports static segmentation, that means it creates threads on startup and cannot create more or restart a broken thread, silly engine. It has no tray icon information such as bandwidth allocation, remaining percentage and the rest. No automatic throttle control. No zip archiving preview It doesn't recognize most files sent by asp, php and cgi scripts. Instead those, it has great file manager, image thumbnailer and video/audio grabbing. Anso a nice site manager. But i wonder who needs them in a download manager. A downloader should be small, fast, reliable and informative. DownloadStudio is just a 16+ MB bloated application that works reliable but cannot compete other pure downloaders in terms or speed and control.

The fastest gun in the west !!!
Internet Download Manager version 4.02
I know there are so many download managers, a user can spent a life to find the best one for his needs. I suggest IDM to people who want the right tool for the exact job, fast downloading with resume and queue management. IDM is not for people who like multi functional, skinned and bloated applications. Neither is free or even cheap. Actually Tonec asks for update fees every year. But IDM is the fastest download manager ever tried. And i tried a lot before getting it. It's not that it exceeds available bandwidth, just optimise its use far better than other big names like Getright, Flashget or Reget. I've benchtested them all, and IDM was the fastest, actually 5-10% faster than second one, using same server, file and segmentation strategy. It's low level integration really works, not only with IE but with every browser and every program than downloads files from HTTP / HTTPS / FTP. Things i don't like, user interface and silly protection counter.

No no no
System Mechanic version 4.0j
Amateurish ugly user interface, slow and buggy utilities, extremely slow and unsafe disk defragger, and a bunch of tweeks. I cannot suggest this multi-awarded (!!!) utility to nobody except kids. Sorry...

It's really an ace !!!
Ace Utilities version 2.4
The internet is full of cleaners, registry tools, privacy erasers etc. Unfortunately most of them are just useless, if not dangerous. It looks that every newbee developer, starts his career writing such a utility. Ace Utilities is different in many aspects. Fast, stable as rock and with a small footprint, offers utilities for real computer management, not garbage like tweaks and the rest useless stuff. A really good privacy / disk cleaner - shredder, one of the best registry cleaners, internet cache and cookies management, as well as a startup and uninstall editor. Besides them all, Hari, Ace author, is very helpful solving problems or adopting user suggestions. Behind the nice user interface, Ace has also a powerful "script-like" plugin engine, a must for any advanced user. I have no problem rating Ace with 5 stars and suggesting it to any one. Excellent job Hari :)

A serious professional tool...
Registry Workshop version 1.6.4
Years now, i was searching around to find a professional regedit replacement. I need super fast registry searching and regedit is extremely slow. I was happy enough with the Registry Crawler, until i've found Registry Workshop. What a program ! Small footprint, extremely fast searching, advanced features like copy-paste, undo, history, multiple find lists, multi-file editing, registry backup/restore etc. This application is a gem, a professional tool for serious IT people or any advanced user. It's far better than anything i've tried before, even legendary RegCrawler. Get Registry Workshop and forget anything you ever used before.

The best of its kind...
UltraEdit version 10.20b
A text editor, or even better a programmer's editor is a "must have" tool for any advanced user, not only developers. There are many of them available, stepping from small freeware ones to advanced commercial. One difficult task is to find an editor that really works, has nice support, small footprint, is bug-free and at a right price. UltraEdit is exactly that kind of editor. Small enough, fast and fully featured is ideal for small and large scale development, website management, text manipulation and comes at an excellent price. Don't expect bells and whistles though. UltraEdit is a serious professional tool, not just another notepad replacement. As a professional developer myself, i'm using it for everyday programming, computer management and various other tasks. Believe me, i cannot imagine my life without UltraEdit.

An excellent backup application for everyday.
Backup4all version 2.2.0 build 698
As a developer myself, it was quite difficult to find a backup that really works. Don't know why, but most of today backup apps, are just featureless bloated and buggy garbageware best suited for business people with limited computer knowledge. In my company, we used almost any backup program available including famous "Backup MyPC", WinBackup and "Genie Backup Manager" before trying Backup4All. This one is really excellent with all real features people want. True incremental backups, built-in burner, ZIP disk support, zip64 deflate for beg backups (>2GB) and cataloging, all in less than 4MB. Backup4All is quite pricey (compared with others), but it's worth every cent. Support is also good, always got informative replies from them in less than 48 hours. Our Romanian friends did really good job ! Well done folks...
