My first and worst infection
NSIS Media Remover version 1.1
Somewhere around the end of June 2006, I caught this horror. It was not well documented at that time, and Googling proved that not many people were infected, but those who caught this were driven mad trying to eliminate it. It was my first infection in 6 years, and proved nearly impossible to remove despite everything I tried. Long story short, after 100+ hours of work and research, I disabled it from rebooting, but have been afraid of it reoccurring ever since, and still never knew its origins until reading the info in this freeware. I was never sure if I had removed every part of it, as this is the type of thing one wants ALL gone, and running this freeware found a couple of non-operative registry entries still left over, and removed them. So very glad to have this program on board now so that I can deal with this NSIS Media Extension if I ever get it again. Thanks very much for addressing this, as at the time, all the virus software companies didn't have a clue.

No status bar, no graphs, no progress updates
SpeeDefrag version 3.1
Since I get tired of manually shutting down apps, or using another app to shut down apps in order to begin a defrag, this looked like a good idea. And the word "speed" caught my eye, as we all hate the time it takes to defrag. BUT ... when it booted into the DOS window, I couldn't tell WHAT was going on. I got a message saying it had completed analysis, but then, nada. No apparent disk activity, nothing to monitor. Was it working? Defragging? I dunno, but after 3 hours of the same screen, I exited this program, rebooted, and it's back to the standard Windows defragging process for me. Good idea, just needs a few more buttons to let us know it's actually doing something.
