Very easy to use, works fine.
WinSock XP Fix version 1.2
All it basically does is run "netsh winsock reset catalog" for you, but for inexperienced users who wouldn't know of something like that, this is great.

Notepad on steroids.
Win32Pad version 1.5.4
This works well as a more configurable, powerful version of notepad, but if you are looking for a notepad replacement that does things like syntax highlighting, I would look elsewhere.

Very nice.
Color Cop version 5.3
Does everything you would need a basic color picker to do.

Great multi-im problem, but...
Miranda IM version 0.3.3
The only thing to really stop me from using Miranda-IM instead of AIM or any other client was that it only sends messages in plain text. Yes, it can parse URLs, but you cannot do simple formatting like bold or italic text, nor can you send or receive text links. I was actually surprised when I figured this out. So many other features, yet it only sends messages in plain text. Other than that, it's fantastic. A great library of plugins, and very easy to use once you get the hang of things. Once they add the ability to send formatted text, I'll make the switch. Until then, I'll probably stick with modded versions of AIM or with Gaim.

Like it a lot, very easy to use...
WinRoll version 2.0
And isn't a resource hog. And the AIM problem mentioned is all fixed now, so no worries there anymore. Roll up windows, make them transparent, send them to the back, minimize them to the tray, always on top; a lot of functionality, but easy and intuitive.

Excellent.
Mozilla Firefox version 0.9.3
I've been using Firefox since about version 0.2, when it was called Phoenix, and with every release they iron out more and more bugs and compatibility issues. Now there is very little IE can do that Firefox can't. Add to that the power and customization possibilities extensions and themes ad, and you've got a winner. Great browser.

Very useful player.
foobar2000 version 0.82
It has a bit of a learning curve, but it's an excellent player that really cuts down on the bloat. I've used QCD, Winamp, iTunes, and a number of other players, but ditched them for Foobar2000. The album list and convolver components are both extremely useful.

Better than avg, imo.
Avira AntiVir Personal version 6.26.00.00
I actually had problems with AVG; I had a bug that AVG couldn't fix, so I downloaded AntiVir and boom, problem solved. It's a very nice program.
