I have not used the shareware version of Nero Burning Rom, but I have used a version bundled with my CD-Writer. It is a most excellent program which I definitely recommend. I have had no problems with it.

qleft  At last, something that satisfies me  qright

EngInSite DataFreeway version 1.0.5.154

I'm a confirmed freeware addict, and I have hence been around the block not once but many times, searching for a freeware that really *works* and is not just a crippled version of something which I would have to pay for. Till a few days back I was staying with another program (which I won't name here) but though its interface and features were good, it had a nagging "freeware version for home use" window. I found this program and suggested it to SnapFiles and I'm happy that they have listed it. I'm sure a lot of other people too will find it tremendously useful as I have. A wonderful piece of work, in my opinion!

Siren
  • Freeware
  • Win98/ME/2000/XP/2003/Vista

qleft  The best file-renaming program i've seen  qright

Siren version 1.80
  • Interface: 5
  • Features: 5
  • Ease of use: 5
  • Value: 5
  • Overall: 5

Trust me, I've been around the block quite some, and nothing beats this program. It's small, fast-loading, feature-rich, neat interface. Make your own powerful custom expressions and tell Siren exactly the way you want it to rename your files. It lets you preview your new file names, before you say "Engage". A host of selection options is available - select, invert etc. All in all, this is the best. Search nowhere else - here is your final refuge!

avast! Home Edition
  • Freeware
  • WinWin (All)

qleft  The best freeware anti-virus program i know  qright

avast! Home Edition version 4.6.652
  • Interface: 5
  • Features: 5
  • Ease of use: 4
  • Value: 5
  • Overall: 5

My review title is not an exaggeration. I have been around the block, and seen other freeware/commercial anti-virus programs. Avast tops them all, in terms of features (I have all I want), interface simplicity (no clutter), and straightforwardness (no roundabout ways to do anything). One thing that particularly appeals to me is the short and sweet differential updates to both the virus database and the main program. I got bored with downloading huge updates for other programs.
