512mb == can run simultaneously with another!
NetVeda Safety.Net version 3.61
Installed it over LookNStop. Working fine... vs another (just deinstalled) which hosed the dialup connection... www. firewallleaktester. com has info which prompted the dual-firewall setup (learned that at least FreeBSD can run 2 firewalls simultaneously, so figured why not win98?? )

Running one hour so_far...
TimeLeft version 3.14
Default clock COOL. Have yet to use the other 9 or so features, 2 add-ins (iirc) possible: auctions; web export; I opted for the latter also;

Rvw for psnl $49 version not pro/lite
diskMETA Pro version 1.0
Win98 where Indexers fail--Buy the $49ver, its the holy grail--Rename the AV, Upgrade the sticks--[after svl smaller SF MODE indexes] -- yes the one you should've picked!! ..... (indexes selected folders and extensions quickly!) One should uninstall the Lite Version before installing either paid versions... (I upgraded because a super desktop search program fails to add anything to its already-huge index)

Definitely on the to_do_list
CCleaner version 1.14.072
Howsoever I run it in SAFEMODE (win98 F.E.) as the third tab, the tab for which I use the program, ('check for issues' iirc,) took forever (twice) then crashed at completion. In safe mode, the same tab is about a minute or two to scan. *and* the scan was *very*** efficient and/or complete... after which one selects 'fix selected' or such, if one is careful to observe all the usual caveats beforehand.

Super-featured; but had to uninstall for now;
mYspike version 3.0
Apparantly includes .Net framework. Gave error dialog box repeatedly and would not begin searching, subsequent investigation showed that my firewall did not have it listed as approved despite the 'ok'. Had to uninstall; however, these problems *may* because of interaction with the firewall rather than .Net faring poorly on my win98 FE system. Won't know until/if I install it again. BUT if it works (say one already has .Net apps on their computer running okay) it should be a super program...

Indispensable and then some...
BootIt Next Generation version 1.64
Reading the description twice, then reading the online support pages twice, one may not yet grasp that this program can ALSO: a... fdisk and / or format to Dos, Win, Unix, Linux, xBSD; b... image to a cdr, of any partition, before booting to any of them... c...image to a 2d hd disk, before booting, [I recommend practicing the image-and-restore before it is actually needed, maybe on a small created-for-backup partition ]. Why anyone would run ANY win/dos/linux/bsd/unix without this program escapes me...

Rvw. for shareware version
Look n Stop Lite version 1.04
Look N Stop Lite was my first firewall. I was planning to install (another highly reviewed firewall) when I read the results of testing (firewall vs firewall vs...) and Look N Stop 2.x passed more often than both the Lite version and the (other highly reviewed) one. Paid to upgrade immediately. Not sorry. Reg. code may take several days to arrive, no need to send inquires...

Super program if internet explorer...
EditURLs version 1.05
I have a dos-box (win9x) running at all times, and start IE w/ "start [localfile].htm" or "start www.(site).htm"... Thus when I close IE, the command prompt is ready. This makes EDITIEUR (its dos name) super valuable because: 1.) I can easily delete sites i've visited today if I am not to visit them again soon. 2.) I can keep sites I need to revisit or that are favorites, in the list which will appear in the dropdown list. 3.) viewing the list is a reminder of what those sites are, as they are normally not visible within a program vs as within a dropdown list.

2nd comment re This Program
Edit IE URL
More impressed than initially! ; run-every-day one can just scan unchecked for make keeper which would convert the list to a bookmark-list of sorts. [saw screenshot of suggested-by-other- comment and looks a little more complex than the above ]. I run it from a dos box from which I am accustomed to exit right now running e.bat which "echo g=ffff:0000 | debug" makes the dos box a three-step operation: 1... taskbar msdos icon opens dos box [any other command line operations] 2... editieur 3... e (closes dos box) thereupon editieur ready. Someday i ll get around to making a shortcut...

1.7.3
Agent Ransack

memmax
MemMax
It replaced on my win98 system another fine program; this one can be configured to do the 3 2-second defrags in one mouse click. Minimized, it shows remaining ram so gives an indication of whether another defrag is necc.
