Simple but effective
AMP Calendar version 2.20
This little program doesn't have a host of features... but it's fast, it gets the job done, and it doesn't consume a lot of resources. If you often find yourself looking for a calendar to match up dates and days of the week, this is an excellent, free solution. It shows the current date in your system tray, and with a click you can have a full calendar. This sure beats bringing the System Time Control Panel -- or even worse, launching Outlook! It doesn't have any scheduling features, or memos, or reminders -- but if you're like me, and you don't need those tools -- this is quick little program will save you frustration!

Practical, easy to use screen capture utility
ScreenHunter Freeware version 4.0.85
Having tested several utilities that improve (or attempt to improve) upon the limited functionality of Windows "Print Screen," this is the program I liked best. It is easy to use, has the features (and then some) that the average person needs, it doesn't consume a lot of system resources -- and it's free!. It is simple enough for a computer novice to use. Note to laptop users: If you need a Print Screen utility because you don't have the PRNT SCRN key found on the extended keyboard, this program is an excellent choice. Some screen capture utilities require the print screen key... Screenhunter lets you select an F-key of your choice, or use your mouse. Highly Recommended!
