I have read here that others have experienced a bug with this program where it just crashes and I am afraid its true. Trying to join 3 mpeg-2 files with 2 minutes of footage on them each into one single wmv file caused the program to sit for over 3 hours eating 50% of the CPU processing time. Usually I would wave away people saying a program hangs which must mean its not working because you expect conversion and joining on media to take time. However having tested this program several times with very small mpegs I cannot see why it would take over 3 hours to join them. It is obvious that either 1. there is a bug with this program that causes it to hang for eternity on some XP SP2 machines or 2. it takes several days to merge 6 minutes of film and I just didnt wait long enough. Hope someone can look into why this is happening as it looks like an ok program.

AVICodec is one of those programs you cant really do without when you watch movie clips from all over the net. The amount of times I have had video files that I could not play because of missing audio or video codecs is quite a lot. Using Google to search for codecs was a headache as 1. You have to pay on some sites download codecs or 2. sites required you to register to download files only to spam you later. This program makes it even easier for a novice because you are not overwhelmed with the sheer number of different versions or variations your just pointed to what works. Grade A program! Easy to use and Free.

Its a very good program, it finds quite a lot of nuisances though the full system scan can take quite some time. The quarantine feature is very handy in a free spyware tool and all in all the look, feel and usefulness of this program cannot be underestimated. Not to mention the few plug in features that are available on the official website. The only bad thing about this program that I can come up with is probably the number of new update revisions that seem to take place. Whilst compared to many other programs I am quite dubious about the number of new updates being produced. Is it just the same thing with a different name? I wonder... other then that slight suspicion I would definitely recommend this product to anyone.
