Nothing can compare!
Domain Name Analyzer version 3.2
Had to write something about DNA ... I've been using it for years, found at SnapFiles, of course. You won't get better. It does not support the newer extensions, .tv, .name etc, but I believe they have a Pro Version ... maybe that does. All the usual (most used) extensions are supported though. It's very easy to use, and you can export/save your results. If a domain name is taken, and in use ... you can easily visit that website. Also, you can get all the info on WHOIS data base. There is so much I could write about DNA, but I am not afforded the space here. It will never give you any problem, and only bring you fast results. I'm surprised there aren't any user opinions here already, but I guess it's so good, we just take it for granted once we have it ... like I did, up until now. Bottom line ... if you need to check out domain names frequently, or if you're just curious, this one's for you. Thank You SoftnikTech.

A promising future foreseen
Doctor Alex Antispyware version 2.01
Pros: easy download, easy install, ease of use, pleasingly colorful interface, large buttons, updates, fast scanning and undo/recover features. Sounds great so far, but (most importantly) does it do the job? After another favorite app detected and removed a Trojan, I realized it won't scan my 2nd drive. My PC was behaving erratically again, so I scanned my other drive with Dr Alex (1st time) and it detected 3 Trojans, 1 Trojan/Worm, 1 Tbar/HiJacker and numerous tracking cookies. All were deleted. Cons: Missing ... start, finish, time elapsed, estimated scan time, running percentage scanned, last scan date, detailed report and copy/paste, print, save feature. Also, there's no button to select/check all items to undo/delete. If Dr Alex can further develop some or all of these ... it will be one superior product. As it is though, it delivered when it came to what's most important ... and is now another added patch on my security blanket :-)

Best beta ever!
SpyDefense version 0.9.8.122 Beta
After having some problems recently with sudden shut-downs, I suspected I was infected ... even though I have plenty of protection. I did many scans, using different apps, and didn't find the nasty culprit ... until I scanned with SpyDefense. A trojan was found in 4 different locals ... I hit remove, and it was gone. It was NOT a false positive, since my PC is now back to normal. SpyDefense has 3 scan modes, and it's fast on each mode. It detected this Trojan when other highly rated scanners failed to do so ... even one I purchased. The only problem I had with SD is, it fails to scan my 2nd drive. For some reason, it only scans C drive. Apart from this ... I have a lot to thank Everest Labs for, since I was heading for some serious trouble with this Trojan in hiding. I would highly recommend including SD in your protection plan. Definitely under-rated.

Pc pain prevention
ExerciseMinder version 1.0.0010
Exercise Minder is a wonderful little program that does just what it says. I've been looking for something like this for years. Spending so much of my time sitting at the PC, leaves me stiff and aching all over. Being the type that just won't be removed until 'after I finish this' ... I really do need to be reminded. I've found that, even after the prompting, I feel somewhat irritated, that I have to stop what I'm doing. But, I stay with the program, and feel much better for it. I've also realized, just how long I actually do sit at the PC without moving. Besides reminding me, the suggested exercises (avi/video with instructions) are excellent too. Using this program might possibly save me from suffering debiltating conditions in years to come. Thank you to Archer Dohller for coming up with this innovative little program, and allowing us to use it for free. Give this a try folks!

Time is of the essence
Auslogics Disk Defrag version 1.1.2
Very nice clean, easy to use defrag tool. I used to defrag once a month, but it's been getting longer and longer between defrags ... simply because it takes too long. These days I've only been doing it once every 3 months or so, since I had to dedicate at least 1 whole day to do it. Now, using Auslogics Disk Defrag, the same defrag takes me 2 hrs. What an improvement over the Windows tool. I am seriously considering purchasing Boost Speed ... it's something I would like try, and when your vote of confidence is won over ... it makes it an easier decision when it comes to buying their other products. With this time-saving tool ... I can easily find the time to defrag as often as I like. I'm looking forward to what other great products these folks bring to us in the future. Thank you Auslogics.

Love it! love it! love it!
Icon Restore version 1.0
I can't praise Tim Taylor highly enough for coming up with this magic little treat. I am a website graphics designer, and I change my desktop resolution fairly frequently. It's a nightmare (and a big job, I might add) re-positioning all my icons. I use them on a daily basis, and I need them to be organized. I have so many icons on my desktop ... you might consider them the actual wallpaper ... get the picture :-( Then recently, after installing a program and ignoring one user's opinion, about how it caused all the icons on their desktop to scramble ... I found it did just that. I re-organized them several times ... spent the better part of a whole day doing it. Then I hopped on over to my SnapFiles to see if I could find something to solve this problem. And, what do ya know ... I come across this little beauty ... problem solved :-) I agree with other users though ... it deserves it's own little icon and I'm willing to make space for it.

Give it a chance
SensiveGuard version 1.06
I almost didn't download this ... just seeing the interface, turned me right off. However, I was 'inbetween' firewalls, since Kerio had sold out, or started selling it under the name Sunbelt. Although I didn't mind purchasing it, it wasn't the same as before. So I gave SensiveGuard a try, and have been using it for a while. I find it gives adequate protection, once you have your settings in place. I haven't found any problems with it, but if they don't do something about the awful looking interface ... it doesn't stand a chance. It is FREE though, and works well.

It's a must!
MyUninstaller version 1.34
MyUninstaller is well reviewed by SnapFiles, although I could never rate it anything less than EXCELLENT! A great alternative to Windows Add/Remove ... especially for those who use this often ... as I do. I find Windows to be very slow ... whereas, one click on my desktop, and up comes all my programs. I wouldn't be without it ... and to think it's FREE! Thank you to Nir Sofer for yet again, another wonderful time-saving product.

Questionable findings
Active Security Monitor version 2.0.0.18
I get excellent on firewall and anti virus. Here, it detects Avast ... unlike with some other users I noted. However, it gives me 'fair' on spyware, and poor on PC utilities. This, infact is NOT the case ... maybe it's just that I'm not using anything in my security software/applications (other than ASM) by AOL. Just what are they trying to tell me? ... I wonder. Also, they rate me at 85 ... then it jumped to 90, after I had installed additional spyware and PC tools ... however, I still remained 'poor' and 'fair' in these areas. The following day, without changing anything ... I dropped back down to 85. The only plus for me, is that on the rare occasions that I want to have my anti virus shut down for a short time, it flashes red on my tool bar ... reminding me to enable it (anti virus) again. Each user would have to judge for themselves. As far as I'm concerned ... it's questionable ... I can take it or leave it.
