Works where others won't
GetDataBack for NTFS version 3.03
I tried about a half dozen programs, none of which could recover files from my 160 GB drive. Even though GetDataBack saw the drive as about 31.5 GB, it showed about 101 GB of data to recover. Make sure you look at all the info on the screens. It does look like some of the files may be corrupt, but the lowest price I was quoted for professional data recovery was $995. $79 is quite a bargain!

It's not even funny
Nullsoft Beep version 0.3
I expected it to respond to keyboard typing .. but it doesn't. It responds to mouse clicks, sometimes, and sometimes not. No rule. I can't figure it out.. sorry, not funny.

A must-have
HotKeys version 1.51
Small, fast, handy, useful.. I can't imagine my everyday's work on a computer without it.

Cool, but the drop the nag screen !!! ;-)
Dr.Windows version 1.03.01
The program is quite nice and thank you for making it free, but the whole purpose of such a thing is to install it for your family/friends' user account, and have them not notice the trick - the nag screen defeats that purpose!!!

Don't install
PC Watch Personal Edition version 1.11.16
Doesn't do much at all, what it says, but very open and available to anyone to delete or amend logs. I was afraid to use the hidden mode because there was no key combination indicated in any documentation to unhide, and there is no ability to set a password unless you "upgrade". Hmmmm. Oh, and there is no way to uninstall it, at least no easy way. And believe me, your registry is now LOADED with PC Watch related files. Don't do it, bro!

Excellent! just what i've been looking for :)
Brutus version 2006
What a great little freeware, thanks! The position of the icons is the BEST - as oppose to what another user wrote - having them on the quick launch assures no waste of background resources (like in tray), while having just as much ease and MORE simple operation - as oppose to custom tray programs, everyone knows that a quicklaunch shortcut is a shortcut - you click, it works! no complicated right-click menus to bother with. What's best - you get an easy and well established way to change icons, assign hotkeys, etc. - just like on any Windows shortcut. To the author - please keep this quicklaunch method - there will always be other resource-hogs tray-applications for those who'll prefer them.

Great free program
TightVNC version 1.29
Setup couldn't be easier, and I really don't understand networks at all! Besides the network itself, this is the first network software that has ever worked for me. The full screen remote control mode makes it just like you're sitting at the other computer. I recommend this software, check it out.

Great little utility
UnzipThemAll version 1.03
This program does exactly what it says - allows you to unzip multiple archives at the same time. You can specify whether to unzip them all into the same folder (my preference) or different folders based on the zip files' names. Very handy when dealing with a ton of zipped archives.

Very interesting!
LanSpy version 2.0
This program is very interesting to play around with.... it helps you see how open your network is. And it's cool to see all this info on remote computers.

Good product for the price!
Money Manager version 2.3.2.0
For the price, you can't go wrong. It has some missing features... of which... you can't edit withdraws/transfers... you have to delete them and create them again with the modified content... a little annoying but at least it works. And I wish this program had a system tray notifier or something that would warn you about an upcoming bill.

Just useful!
EFS (Email Forwarding System) version 5.57.07
At last, a freeware mail forwarding server I waited soooo long.

Very useful, but not for win 98
Steel Inventory version 1.0
As expected, this software is only for NT family (NT, 2000, XP, etc). It will not run under Win 98 as it displays error "ActiveX/Cannot create object". Maybe it needs WMI/WindowsScript 5.6 installed? On the NT platform it runs excellent!

Needs improvement
InsideCAT Lite Edition version 3.05
I have uninstalled it from my PC. Installation and initial use was great. However it kept on generating error messages every time I started it, and when I made changes to 1 disk, re-cataloging was a problem as the program only checked my floppy disk drive and did not allow me to update from other media drives.

Blocks hibernation and standby functions
O&O DriveLED version 1.0.74
Driveled will inhibit your hibernation and Standby features. It's a limitation mentionned in their website...

Good
Emco noPing ShutDown version 1.0
Good utility. Wish you could change the default IP so that after a reboot it doesn't reset to localhost (127.0.0.1)

Whoa
RegSeeker version 1.35
This is absolutely the best automatic registry cleaner i have ever encountered. if you use windows xp, and need a reg cleaner, use this. however, this program will find a long haul of entries (most likely) so be sure and look over the list before you delete them.

Accelman is the best!
AccelMan version 2.7.1
I have tried many other file managers and used Total Commander for a long time. But now I found Accelman, I dont want to use anything else. It has so many features and is exactly what I was looking for. I bought it after a trial period and all future updates are for free!! Download this software and try it now! You will not regret it.

I waited for so long...
LaunchTab version 1.1
... and is finally here! Yes, THIS is the launcher I wanted: easy of use, more than nice interface, no-frills configuration and FREE. Give it a try and you'll use it FOREVER!

An extremely useful for some...:)
QuickType version 1.00
Thank you David John for creating this freeware! I use my brother's sluggish laptop, and while I like the ClearType vey much, he always turns it off ("for speed issues..."). QuickType allows us to easily adopt the display to our own likings!

Great
Pivot Stickfigure Animator version 2.2.5
Great simple free program. If you want to get started with animation, this is the tool.

A winner
Jetico Personal Firewall version 1.0.1.44 beta
Yes, it's a free Winner! It's doing an excelent job in blocking ALL vulnerability tests from http://www.firewallleaktester.com On the other hand it may be annoing until you set it up and teach him what to allow and what to block, but here's a trade off: you won't get a good protection with some "out-of-the-box" default settings! So spend your time to configure this baby and it will pay later. No problems at all on Win2K and WinXP pro. A must have on your system...

Not really protective
Sygate Personal Firewall version 5.6
This firewall (the free version) will fail most of the tests from www.firewallleaktester.com (Thermite, CopyCat, Ghost, etc). I switched to Jetico Pfw latest version (RC) which will block all of the above threats! True, with Jetico you have to spend more time until it will learn what apps to allow, but hey, you will NEVER get a product to protect you 99% using "out of the box" settings!!! And make no mistake, if you want 100% protection, then unplug that internet connection :)

Doesn't get any better
Mozilla Firefox version 1.0 PR
Firefox has made the Internet fun again! It was a pain dealing with all the problems in IE. IE is slower then Firefox and it only has like 2 features. Firefox is infinitely expandable. You can chat on IRC, browse Amazon easier (MAB), and install an FTP client. It's all about you with this browser!

Doesn't work for all websites
Check4me version 2.02
The all-images user interface takes a while to get used to. Program worked for the BBC news website. It didn't work to check on 2 websites on my company's intranet. The Webmon software was able to deal with those 2 intranet websites. Check for me is easy to use, and has a great price/value ratio, being free. My ratings do not match what I wrote above because I had to tweak them to be able to display only one star

No more made by adobe
StripFile version 1.01
I use this program to get rid of the extra stuff Photoshop puts in your pictures. Just about every picture you save has the word Adobe hidden in it. It saves space by removing it ...

Get rid of useless shell extensions
ShellExView version 1.01
What to do when shitty programs (like Windows Media Player 10, AceFTP Pro 3.61 and AVG Anti-Virus) worm themselves into your file/folder context menus without giving you an option to turn shell integration off: Disable Shell Extensions with ShellExView from NirSoft (it's free too)!

Love it!
SpywareBlaster version 3.2
Very good. Offers protection for Mozilla/Firefox as well as IE. Must pay $10 for automatic updates, however.
Review date: Sep 19, 2004
Excellent
MoveOnBoot version 1.95
Gets the job done, deletes files that you can't even delete in safe mode.
Review date: Sep 05, 2004
Very useful
Glass2k version 0.92
The interface is well integrated, it's very easy to use, very stable, and doesn't slow down the machine. The good point is that the setup for each program remains even after a reboot of the computer, unlike most other equivalent programs. A must for me !

It does the work
digestIT 2004 version 3.0.2004
He what? It's supposed to verify hashes. Then that's what it does, nothing more. But at least it's integrated to the context menu, so u don't have to seek for it in the infernal windows main menu ;) Only one little thing: I can't encrypt my apache logins as it takes only files as input. It would have been cool...
