I've made the bmp then just click on it with right button to convert, one or two windows where you choose what you want and VOILA!!! I've even registered just to say to all you that want a easy to use bmp to icon converter IT'S THIS ONE!! Great Job! and free! Excellent.

In this day and age, we are as lazy as humanly possible when it comes to computing. This app would have won best app of the year in 1991, but i use Any2Icon for this task because you can simply save any image, jpg, gif, bmp, etc. Even save right from a web page, no editing. Load it and the app resizes it on it's own. With quite a few options. This one takes the effort of resizing images in an external editor.

I couldn't find the .ico export settings in Photoshop, Corel OR Paint Shop Pro. Instead of wasting more time, I resized my art to 256x256 pixels, saved it as a .bmp and and ran this little wizard on it. Done. It makes windows icons, and even 16x16 favicon.ico icons that you can put in your website root directory, so you can have an icon like the green Snapfiles "S" on your browser's address bar. I already have all the design tools I need. This simply creates the icon(s) I needed. What a relief! Thanks to the Author! I really didn't need more expensive bloatware cluttering up my computer. The only 'drawback' is that it is a no frills program, and might not be suitable for absolute beginners in need of a walkthrough.

Couldn't disagree with the other reviewer more. The app is a miserly 79k after install (yes the installer itself is bigger) -- how many bells and whistles can one expect? You do have to use a paint program to crop your image to a square *at least* 256x256 pixels and save as BMP; the developer has anticipated support for Windows Vista which uses 256x256px icons. Right-click on your BMP and select "Convert to Icon". You then click "Next" 4 times, name your ICO file and click "Finish". I want to point out that I am neither the developer, nor his/her fanboi: this app came as a breath of fresh air after installing/uninstalling a number of feature-disabled shareware packages (all costing ~$50 to register). The app lacks icon shadows, that's why I gave it a mere 2/5 for features, but at 79k, meh!

Takes too long and besides most graphics progams will export an image to an icon-before using this application you have to resize your pic to 256x256 anyway.......too many steps
