Still going strong
Feels like a step into history: the other two reviews this far are 3 years old. My issue was, I couldn't get Windows Media Player 11 to work, and I didn't even find any uninstall for it! Talk about monopoly... But this one worked, well and all. Makes one wonder about the necessity of frequent updates and everything, like with codec packs. If you want to watch and listen, this will probably do it. At least it did it with me.

A very good player
Fast, relatively stable, small program (not blotted),but does take some system resources. Best viewing screen I've come across yet. Tons of options/tweaks but presented in a complex array. Documentation as well as web site are also complex. Loads of skinning options. Skins range from complex,i.e. lots of controls, requiring installation, etc. to simplistic. Can play most formats. Note: ease of use can be very good and straight forward if your using a simple skin and you don't need to adjust the settings.

Deserves four stars
The good: highly customizable, responsive play/seek relative to other free players (I've tried them all!), plays most formats with installed codecs. The bad: complicated/disorganized options menu with useful options deeply burried, no File|Save As, no DVD playback in free version even if you have the mpeg2 codec installed.
