YCopy is an excellent way to backup your computer to exterior memories. It was recommended by IT guy and he was right.

As another mentioned, not sure why an over all low rating, I'm sure there were reasons but I myself give it a 5. It worked flawlessly on 30 gigs and took just over 15 min to transfer from drive to drive. This combined with Syncback makes an excellent file backup team. Ycopy to move large files, Syncback to keep them updated. Ycopy is a very simple interface, straight forward and does a heck of a job. Great software!

This program is very simple yet very useful! A life-saver if you need to copy large amounts of files from one disk to another. Great for making backups of entire directories. If you have experienced the frustration of trying to move a large directory and getting a Windows error after half an hour of wasted time... you will LOVE this little application.

Excellent program. Easy to install and use. Does what it say it will do. Never had a problem with it. Used it for moving 100 gb of data once.

This software does exactly what it says. I struggled for weeks to get data off a suspect drive: the windows software kept locking up when I tried to extract it. Ycopy copied it without drama, and the first time I tried. Cool.

I don't know why the main review gives it only 2 stars. Ycopy does 1 thing, that microsoft should have implemented long ago: it copies files without tripping on errors. If you're running Windows, you know how frustrating it is when Explorer errors out in the middle of a file transfer, and you have to start from scratch. This small tool ensures that the system files, index files and other stuff are not going to stop the copy process. The best thing about this tool: 1.Set it and forget it. Say "copy this!" and you can run to lunch, come back 2 hours later and everything is ok. 2. It lets you print a report of what files were not copied. 90% of the time they're not essential, such as thumbnails and index files. 3. It is FREE! - and it works great. Love the ycopy and i'm going to donate a couple of bucks to the developer, he saved me loads of frustration.

I've just built myself a new tower and needed to move all my files from my laptop. Of course, I was stupid enough to try to copy these with Windows Explorer even though I knew that it would fail at some point on one of the files and then I'd have to start over. I then looked for a utility to do this and Ycopy fit the bill perfectly. I had it installed and running in less than 5 mins. The interface is intuitive and easy to grasp. Once I had it running, it copied over all my files (about 190 Gigs worth) in about 5 1/2 hours. Not bad for that much data for my laptop connected to my tower through a hub (100Mb/s). The point for me isn't the speed though, it's the fact that it kept going even when it encountered a few errors (locked system files) so in the end, I was very very happy with it and I'd recommend it to anyone who needs to bulk copy files from one place to another.

Ycopy (currently at version 1.0b) is one of those utilities that you seldom need but when you do it's worth its weight in gold. It's a real time-saver when bad things happen to your hard drive/data. The program's only ability is to copy folders (you can't select individual or groups of individual files). But, corollary to this ability, it will (unlike virtually all file managers) skip corrupt files and provide a report listing the file(s) that was not copied and it's location within the source folder. Ycopy's simple interface, small size (332kb for the executable; which is all you need to put on your rescue media) and niche ability makes it a must-have-tool for power users/techs.
