I've been professionally developing websites for about 8.5 years now. I can honestly say I've sampled 99% of HTML Editors available. NONE of them compare to Webcoder. The program rocks. It is fully customizable so when people say they have a problem with it, usually it is because they haven't fixed it themselves! One reviewer mentioned that Frontpage or Dreamweaver would be better. I'd have to say that is ONLY true if you don't care what your code looks like, if you don't care if your code is clean and cross browser compatible, and if you prefer an interface that treats you like a simpleton :) Webcoder is definitely for people that actually prefer to get into the code (although it does have the usual WYSIWYG component similar to Frontpage). The best part of Webcoder is that if you DO actually find a bug, you can get in touch with the developer personally and rest assured the bug will be fixed amazingly fast. What more could you ask for?

You can get a better HTML tool (Dreamweaver and Front Page), but you'll have to pay the big $$'s for them. More than sufficient for an occasional Web Page build.

I don't see why this is so popular. The text window not only has a habit of always staying on top, but it has no grip on text formatting, allowing you to place a cursor anywhere you please, plus formatting code into tidy patterns is annoying. Finally, the lack of conforming to common shortcuts (like ctrl+w to close a window) is a stupid oversight. Get something else instead - there are far better free HTML editors out there.

If you are involved in website development at all, do yourself a favor and check out this editor. It is well designed, easy to use and free. But don't equate free with cheap as this software can easily hold its own against most of the commercial titles out there. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

TSW WebCoder is the best freeware editor I have come across, and I have tested dozens of them. It has every feature most webmasters will need.
