Handles all my reminder needs
I love Rainlendar's ability to sit transparently on the desktop, pop up reminders for me (eg birthdays, appointments) complete with alert sound, have tooltips upon mouseover, etc. I use it for all my to-do things, it is brilliant.

What a nifty little calendar program
Too many goodies to describe, so my suggestion is to download it and try it for yourself. There is a slight learning curve required to learn all the things you can do with this little gem, so be patient and explore it thoroughly. The only caution I have about this program is to make sure you exit the program before playing any intensive games and/or running a video benchmark program.

Everything i need in a desktop calendar
I wanted a small calendar to put on the desktop above the system tray that's easy to navigate. Rainlendar is easy to read and blends well with the desktop. I like the default skin except for the large "Today" circle that obliterates the double-digit dates, but no problem--I just created my own rectangular border and replaced the default one with mine. (So if you're into skinning, then you can go crazy with Rainlendar.) The only negative thing I have to say about it at all is that since the author lives in Finland, which is one of the places in the world that follows the ISO 8601 standard for week dates, the numbering is usually wrong based on a "standard" US calendar; but this is easy to adjust in the options, or you can just turn them off if you don't need them. The negative of this, though, is that the last time I checked, the Rainlendar Help didn't cover this "anomaly" clearly enough for a typical user (or maybe just me).

Five stars
Excellent little program. Everything you'd ever want or need in a desktop calendar and more! Very sweet program that's easy enough for my mom to use as well! In other words, you don't need to be any computer whiz for this small compact program! Five Stars!

Almost there
I want to push the programmer to take Rainlendar to the next level. There are a number of shortcomings in the user interface, and performance. Rainlendar also crashes periodically when trying to enter new data. It's a pretty good product, but does not have the professional finish I like on something that potentially gets constant use.

I like this one ...
A very nice Calendar program with a To Do and Evens list. I like how one can drop the calendar down to a show a single date and still the day and month. Over all, a very nice and easy to use program. When you unzip it, you might want to do so in a directory / folder of the same name; meaning - Rainlendar. There is no install. You can create a short on the desktop for it, or just run Rainlendar.exe. Another keeper!

Great!!!
This little program was very well put together and easy to use. It's a must for those of you, like myself, that constantly needs to be reminded on a lot of things. What even better...the different types of skins from the website. You can use on it. Once again. This is an awesome program. You can't go wrong downloading it.

Unprecedented
Not a sinhgle bad word. I've tried many similar (non-free) apps that are supposed to do the same. But this one beats `em all.

Great!
Rainlendar is such a useful little essential program for your desktop, it is so light and quick, I now don't have to install huge desktop customizers just for the calendar features!

Very useful application
This is a very well thought out calendar/reminder program which works smoothly and flawlessly. It is very unobtrusive on the desktop especially using the transparent setting. Just enough features to keep one happy and also low on system resources. The best freeware in it's class. Look no further!

Very excellent product
This program is great. I love how u can push the calendar back or forth with the arrow buttons. I no longer use it as i now use the VISTA TRANSFORMATION PACK which uses LCLOCK which is really cool and does the same things, however, for those with slow computers or little ram, u certainly can't go wrong! Overall, i rate this a 9 out of 10.

Not bad, but not good enough...
What I like.. No installation needed. got some basic feature.. What I think it should be improved. Calendar should be sizable. alarm should let you change tone.

... and with ical compatibility!
Interface (and multiple skins) is just beautiful. And iCal standard compatibility is brilliant, now I even get my Rainlendar agenda published onto my internet server (with TinyUploader, also found here)...

Best desktop calendar / reminder / to-do list
I've been searching for something like this. Every other program I had was too big or too buggy or nagged you to register. This one was perfect, and I love the skins (funny how things like skins make us happy).

Outstanding
Great little reminder program. Seems to be very stable and quick. No installation needed if you download the zip file. Over 100 skins are available. All skins have various variations of features which makes this reminder so customizable and versatile over all the rest.

Great .... however...
I wont take any Kudos away from the author, he was kind enough to make this great program FREE. One thing I noticed, he writes in his Help and in his online Manual for this program, instructions that most novice computer users would have no clue how to follow. And those of us who can follow those lengthy programming instructions wouldn't want to go that far. All we want is a simple user friendly program that runs as soon as you click the icon on your desktop. I guess sometimes authors get carried away, like scientists, and they want much more for us than we can consume. The basic operation of this program is simple, but if you want bells and whistles, you have to do some WORK to get them. Thank you author of Rainlander for making this FREE for us!

Rainlendar
This is an easy to use desktop calendar with the ability to add a "to do" list and display the calendar events in list form. It takes up hardly any resources, does not impede OS sleeping (running Win2K) and has been very handy. Too bad you can't exchange the info between the phone/PDA and Rainlendar - but since I am on my laptop much more than phone/pda - this doesn't bother me. Would highly recommend this efficient tool.

Great little program
I just downloaded this thing, and it is exactly what I've been looking for. The events and todo features are really cool. That is one of the main things other calendars lack. It also looks really cool. The only thing that could be improved is the configuration menus and such.

The best calendar companion yet.
I have tried several different applications built on the same premise but none compare to Rainlendar. In addition to the functionality, it's good looks compliment any desktop.

One of my favorite practical programs
There are a lot of programs which are fun and do great things, but a great program is one which you use everyday because it serves a real practical "need". I have a terrible memory for dates and events.. esp birthdays. Now Rainlendar pops up and reminds me and my friends think it's great.. because I remember their day! It's easy to use and I'm thrilled to have it! I'm spreading the word.

Not stable and takes too much resources
I've tried Rainlendar 0.20 and come to the conclusion that it's not stable enough yet (on WinXP), this is the main drawback. I also didn't like that IMO it takes too much resources. I would prefer not to have events and to todo-list and thus to save some resources. What I like is its graphic design, skins and ability to customise. I personally prefer to use Calendar 2000 4.3 which doesn't look so pretty but is very stable, lightweight (only 500 K when minimized to the taskbar tray against Rainlendar's 6,500 K) and has everything I need and even more.

At a loss
I'm at a loss as to why so many folks dig this program. I don't want to badmouth the kind people who made the program or degrade my friend who like it. Maybe it's just different strokes. For me, though, this program doesn't come close to having what it takes. Golata

Doesn't work for me
Because of the high reviews, I've downloaded and installed this twice over the last few months to no avail. The first time it failed to install properly. It worked the last time but failed on machine restart saying a dll was missing. It seemed ok while I had the chance to play with it. I rarely have this trouble and am disappointed with this software.

Great .... what else ?
One of the best softwares I have enjoyed using! Cute interface.... that is it. Great utility too. But the help is insufficient. There should be more of help section detailing how the alarms are to be set etc. Still, great to have on your PC. You'd love it !! Go get it now...

Must say one of the best, most valuable and useful freeware ever offered out here. No hassle, small file size and little memory used...and best of all...it's free. Joining this review just to thank the author. Great Job! Keep it up. (Looking forward to your upgraded version).

I wanted an attractive, easy-to-use, calendar program. Rainlendar is the perfect, "low-fat" answer to my routine calendar and to-do list needs. Unobtrusive desktop presence blends nicely on any desktop, and puts Rainlendar's features at my fingertips. Does just what I want it to do. Thanks to the author!
