One of the enhancement I can think of for this software is for call block. If the phone call from the list of ignore/block numbers, the phone should not be rung (the minimum ring is currently set at 1).

I've been playing with this for 2 days now and can't believe how well it works. I've tried it with about 7 different modems and all worked - though some better than others. The best is a US Robotics 56K fax host internal. The program says voice doesn't work but it announces! Caller ID, announce, zap, the whole 9 yards. No more unwanted calls. The only improvement I can think of is to hard wire/program it into a standard caller id box and get rid of the computer. I've got about 15 numbers programmed into it with a silent zap and the phone doesn't even ring - you can't imagine how quite it is around here now! Great product...

Its very good program that easy to use, and the important thing to me is that it detect my phone line/modem setting automatically using FIX CID option. Most of caller id programs is mainly designed for US or maybe Europe but the good thing that it is the first program I tried work for my country, Thanks for Developer. I have suggestion: It will be nice if this program has an option to import my contact numbers directly to its defined phone list instead of adding it manually (as an example from Excel)

I have been using PhoneTray Free now for about 1 year and wouldn't be without it. It's easy to setup and use. The Zap feature is very handy for responding to marketing companies and businesses calling out-of-hours. Being able to set different ringtones for different people is great too. For me, a useful addition to this program would be a simple answer machine to record messages if one wanted. Overall a fabulous program that does what it's designed for.

A great, free program to rid yourself of the dreaded telemarketers. Add your own recordings that only certain callers get. Thanks for such a useful program. Works perfectly on my Win XP Pro system. Thanks Traysoft!

  Not as good as others say

I try using it with windows 98 and 98 se and on both computers it work fine for the first in coming call but on the 2nd incoming call phonetray would freeze up and i would have to restart it. I wrote to the author on 2/04/06 to see if there was a file missing and as of today 2/26/06 i have not heard back. later after doing some digging i found out that this is not a free program but you need to pay for it to get the code to unlock it to work. which at $10.00 would be fine if you know the author was going to mail you the code. They should at least have a 30 day trial to see if it works on your pc before buying

Version 1.20 had a problem with fullscreen alert freezing on some Windows 98 systems. This problem was fixed in version 1.22. PhoneTray Free is free for personal non-commercial use and works forever without any registration. $10 registration fee is required if PhoneTray Free is used on a business line.

I cannot give this program enough credit! It works wonderfully! ***I had 110 useless phone calls bothering me a month until I downloaded this program. It monitors who calls and logs the data easily for you to print out. ***I blocked all of these unnecessary callers using the zap call message "We're sorry, the number you are dialing has been disconnected" and they never called back even after a week of trying. ***It worked so great that I even used it to zap a friend that had gotten out of hand with her calling me constantly to talk about nothing. ***(I even zapped a few bill collectors that wouldn't stop harrassing me after my family went to bed at night.) ***All of them GONE! ***This is the best product of the Century!

This small program is a great addition to my business. With it, one can select not only who can call in, but who can't. It offers several ring tones, so that the user can tailor their system the way they like ( family gets one type of tone, friends another, etc ) It also offers a "ZAP" feature that includes several messages that can be delivered to callers that you DON'T want to speak to ( one message that directs telemarketers to remove you from their call list, is especially useful ) Setup is fast and simple. Interface isn't fancy, and the audio ( voice ) sounds strange, but the program functions exactly as it should. Using little space, this program provides big value

Very easy to install, setup, and start using. Found it to be just as good as another product I was testing that costs $35 after 30 day trial. An excellent product.
