Can be effective, gotta learn to use it
Tried in a small workplace on WinXP SP2 Home Ed. and IE v.6 with ~12 users. 1) Redirect is incompatible with IE v.7. 2) Redirect didn't work with Mozilla as obtained from PortableApps.com (can be run without installation, in case the end-user is on a limited acct.); the software filter could shut down a defined app. fine, though. 3) Loading a site that is in the "Excluded Sites" list disabled the redirect--had to remove all words from "Excl. Sites". If not, after going to "bassexpert.com", I could hit any site that should've been excluded. 4) Redirect only worked on the account the comp. is originally logged into--using "Switch User" instead of logging off disables redirect for the new user. 5) The "Banned Sites" list didn't appear to work at all; might as well put them in "Banned Words" instead. A useful prog. in all, when kept to a single limited enduser acct.

Too easy to bypass
You could feel safe, only if you children are not too aware of internet and computer. Too easy to bypass (tested with 20 children betw. 3-8). Anyway, it's better with than without, but keep an eye anyway on their surf habits.

Some flaws (on my pc
Excellent program (when it works). It could be my PC, but sometimes it doesn't start up..its like that at random times. I don't understand the green and red buttons at the bottom. Overall, not too bad.

Not bad
Not bad at all. The hiding is a pretty good feature and it works for most sites. Like any pretty good piece of software, it has to learn and so I do not complain! The only thing I have a problem is, it has not been updated in a while. .29 has been around for just about a year and now here it is again, like it is an updated program.

Did not install on my xp
Downloaded and tried to install. Was asked to reboot after install but when the system came back up I could not log in to any user. I have professional XP + latest updates installed, run norton antivirus and Zone alarm firewall. To remove I had to enter safe mode, open a cmd window, find the uninstall exe.... After removal my machine came back to life. I don't have the time or inclination to figure out what went wrong - just want some child protection software that goes on my machine 'out of the box'. Ended up using one of the other packages. (Guys that maintain this package should try it out on a few more XP configurations before setting it loose! If you want details of mine just ask.)

Excellent, but!
This program is really good...i like how i can hide the program...password enable it...and even if the kids or anyone disables the program i have other ways on my computer for following every move on my computer...well worth the download 3 stars... but the only thing that bothers me is one site that it will not detect and stop, but if you click any of the links in that page it does filter it and stop them dead in their tracks... this page i am referring to only works in internet explorer and not in opera... thats the main one i use mostly. the mentioned site will not let you close the page like normal either, you have to use the task manager to close the internet explorer... this is my email address...hens@mail.com...for anyone reading this review and would like to test the page out for them selves, please note the page has images on it that might be offensive...so only ask for it if it does not offend ok... henry

Superb superb superb!
This program is truly superb, I recommend it to anyone with kids, an open use machine or other reason to want to block porn etc. It is small, low on overheads and does exactly what it says on the tin. I use Firefox and it works well, opening a new tab when an unsuitable site is found. It becomes impossible to view the content on the original tab and the porn is blocked. The excluded site feature allows you to configure any site it blocks by mistake (hasn't happened to me yet!) and the add site feature allows you to block any it misses (also hasn't occurred to me yet!). To the dissenting reviewers I'd recommend reading the pdf manual packaged with the program, the answers to all concerns raised are in there!. AAA****++++ Program. Best I've seen in its class.

Does exactly what it says it should.
To all the other reviewers, Read The Instructions!. Yes, you don't have an icon to click on to start it, but that would defeat the object surely?. It is supposed to be tricky to get the control panel. Once you are in, it is all clear and simple, and yes, it works in IE and Opera. The only small gripe is that the s/w filter interfered with Outpost firewall. 20/20

Great blocker
This program does a great job of blocking porn sites, unfortunately it does an equally great job of blocking good clean sites.

Big problem
Updated to version 0.22 am using windowsXP Professional Had trouble of blocking a few sites without porn used the uninstall that came with program because I couldn't shut it off. rebooted went to a site with porn on it still it blocked it, thats ok but when I went to my site with no porn it still blocked it. I then went into Registry and edited it and removed everything rebooted again and it still is working just as it was when installed except there is no sign of it being on my computer. One site is my Internet Providers Home page. If someone out there knows how to remove it write me. disaster_AT_Bluebottle.com

Great porn blocker redirector
This program works great. I could not get any sex sites. It works on all sites under IE. Using Opera I was able to view online yahoo email with adult pictures. Although clicking on links were blocked or redirected. Under IE all adult yahoo emails were blocked or redirected. The remaining items are annoyances. It is ridicules the desktop icon does not bring back the program. A lot of work went into this program. But forgetting an access point to the program is - how should I say - frustrating. Fortunately I remembered F9/F10 for hiding the program. Else I would have been screwed. It works for kids but where do I turn off this thing for adults? After a minutes of tinkering I figured I had to exit the program to achieve normal internet browsing. It would have been nice for Parental Filter to label the button close program. Instead they had 3 cute symbol icons on the bottom of the program. Install and Uninstall feature worked like a charm. Overall Great Program.
