Ok so this the latest beta and so far i have found it easy to use. it's the standard two pane browser with a file/list directory and the main viewing pane. it can synchronize rss feeds on start up highlighting the latest unread items. newzie is bright and stylish to look at with a host of useful features such as a scrolling ticker, pop up notifier customizable with sound file, news slideshow and postsweeper to get rid of the junk. i like the fact that selected posts open in the main viewer rather than externally in your internet browser. it may take a bit of getting used to but on the plus side it's from the same stable as the excellent ziepod and this release works well (apart from one glitch with the ticker - grrr). definitely one to watch even if it's not exactly your cup of tea at the moment.

A very good looking RSS atom news reader with lots of nice colorful extras. I like the ticker tape and the built-in web browser. Newzie performs automatic updates on subscribed RSS feeds during startup. I wonder if this version is still Beta. No real bugs but lots of imperfections. The overall file structure is rather complicated. It will take many users lots of time to fully understand the big idea behind this program. Nice but not too user friendly.

The idea is good as the program sets out to do a great many things from filtering RSS feeds through to data alerts. I found stability weak, as the program repeatedly crashed when certain facilities were selected (Win XP Pro). The "archive" screen set up is good, although the opening screen should be less in-you-face and more workmanlike with a more intuitive feel. I await version 1.0 when the bugs have been sorted out. The program would then be a truly execellent RSS tool with a great deal of really useful features.

Hey, I like a learning curve just as much as the next techie, but sometimes it's a bit much. This program, while a really nice and great-looking program, comes off as being a little TOO different, resulting in what might be a fair amount of frustration for all but those who really like having to treat a new program like a game that has to be conquered. However, once you figure out the program's unique way of doing things, you'll find it actually quite good in a lot of ways. Perhaps a better help system and a decent tutorial might make this program more appealing to non-techies. For those willing to spend a little time with it though, I think it will not disappoint. Given the unique interface, skin functionality would be a real plus.

Newzie has a great interface and is a new and refreshing approach to newsreaders. A little difficult to get started as it seems to be trying to do too much all at once...a few less features may make it more user friendly. However it has all the signs of becoming a great program and is worth persevering with.
