I registered just so I could slam Naomi. I tried to open the Unitarian Universalist Church site and it was shut down by Naomi. Ridiculous. It shut down MSNBC daily so I finally decided to uninstall it-well, it took 15 minutes and I couldn't even locate the program on my hard drive. Tried to shut down the process using Task Manager, didn't work. Tried to Search for it, didn't work, used Control Panel, add/change programs, didn't show up. Nightmare. I finally had to download yet another piece from Naomi so I could take it off my computer. Ugh

The price was right, free is good, and it installed very easily, and it did block the one site I tested, but it also blocked my small home town newspaper! Was it for the word "handgun" or for the word "manhunt"? If I want "filtering" like that, I can just pull the plug on the net.

No filter is perfect; Academic discussions or news stories might get filtered out, and e-mailed photos will get through any filter, as will any image from ordinarily innocuous sources if unaccompanied by text, but Naomi works well, and I've put it in dozens of PCs for Churches and community centers used by hundreds of kids, and we've only had 2 problems: one e-mailed photo and 1 PC that did not have Naomi installed (oops! ;-) but it has successfully stopped ugly stuff and once a small child searched for jewelry and the search closed; when I turned off Naomi with the admin password, and used her search terms on a PC, I saw labial (nether lip) rings (kinda cute, but not appropriate for children in a Church Basement). The only caveat is: REMEMBER THE PASSWORD, which you will need for AIDS research and similar health education or other research for academic or personal reasons. Bottom Line: Naomi is simple, and it works well.

Well, the only thing good is "it's free". But free isn't always a bargain. It installed fine, easy to use, but did nearly nothing to block unwanted material. It blocked obvious words, like PORN, etc...how many ways around the F word are there? Many. However , it didn't take any effort to get around it. A few simple words like NUDE can bring up a whole barrel of apples. As someone who is more on the technical edge of computers, in my honest opinion, without an ability to learn to block words that a parent may type manually, or manually block sites, this software is far too useless. I honestly don't say that just to be cruel, just honest. Go to Google images, and viola! anything will show and it blocked nothing in that case, not even words. I tested this completely before making a judgment. I appreciate FREE but that's about all.

This is a great program. Does not even affect the speed of the computer, as expected due to many other programs do. Great filtering and not too strong and definitely not too weak. It searches a pile of keywords and even filters out in search engines. I have even put this on my network on my ghost image i feel it is required. Great program!

The first thing that struck me was the ease of use. Not being a computer-savvy, it's nice to have a program that explains what it does and performs without a hassle. What I specially like about it, is that it doesn't use a simple keyword-list, but relies on more sophisticated techniques. I feel protected and surf more relaxed now that I use Naomi.

This filter is really fast in filtering. I don't notice any slowdown, and I'm on a dial-up with an old computer (166mhz !). But it filters great and gives me peace of mind when surfing. I recommend this tiny little program to everyone, no matter if your on some high-end pc or on a 166 amd like me, this filter won't slow you down while surfing !

This filter is very intelligent. Instead of using a list of words, it monitors a lot more than the "dumb" keyword filters. And the on the fly scanning-method doesn't slow down my traffic ! I use it for 6 months now and never, ever had any problems with it. A musthave for anyone, not just parents ! Fast

I have tried this software and at first it was working quite well. It didn't seem to block too many sites I wanted to get into. The problem came when upgrading to a higher version. The password that was used upon installation was not working. I had to manually delete the program which brings up another issue. You can still delete the program in "Safe Mode" on WinXP. I do not know if this can be done with ALL programs but I am sure someone can figure out how to stop that as well. Overall, if you want something that a novice user will be using you might get away with blocking bad sites.

It doesn't matter if it does block in ten languages, even though not doing so is the downfall of many blocking programs-- the problem is that this program blocks sites that sell perfectly good women's underwear, but not sites that allow user uploads of nude photos to be rated by other users. There, I said nude. Now this page will be blocked, instead of the ones where the pictures are. An editable site list would make this a great program, but as downloaded, it won't stop a seven-year-old who knows where he's going, much less a teen with a creative search string. You would probably do better to set your IE to the highest security level, and allow sites by hand.

A great Porn Filter - stops most bad stuff in its tracks. Very simple to install and use. Easy to uninstall too. But you will still need to use your search facility entering "naomi" to remove all traces. Don't lose the Password - although I did - tried reinstalling which did not bluff the Filter (at first) - But a few hours later - luckily prompted me to enter a password (again) to run the program. What a relief - entered the new password - which seemingly overrode the old one -and successfully uninstalled. Whew!
